RVA’s backyard. The city’s culinary crossroads. You’ve heard about Richmond Hill’s vibrant food scene, and now you’re here to experience it firsthand. Maybe you’re gathering friends for game night, or maybe you’re planning your own pub crawl across the neighborhood. Either way, you’re in Richmond Hill and you’re here for classic bar & grill fare done right.
St. Louis Bar & Grill
$$ | (905) 707-9464 | WEBSITE
Walking into St. Louis Bar & Grill feels like stepping through a portal into a classic sports bar—there are usually a handful of regulars at the bar who look like they haven’t moved since the restaurant first opened in 1992. If you’re planning on catching a game with friends, this is the perfect place to settle in for the evening. And while wings might be the star attraction (and on everyone’s table), the new pizza is what you shouldn’t miss.
Order the hotter-than-hell wings—a generous platter of crispy, addictive wings—share some outstanding fries, and maybe consider ordering a cold beer if you don’t mind waiting a bit for service. Servers like Jenna and Tanisha keep things friendly even when it gets crowded, and that commitment shows in little things, like when a staff member returned a forgotten bag after hours.
Just arrive early on weekends if you’re with a large group, and be prepared for the food quality to vary—some nights the ribs are excellent, others not so much. But for those crispy wings and that perfectly crispy pizza crust, it’s worth the trip.
Willie Stouts Pub and Grill
$$ | (416) 499-0383 | WEBSITE
When we’re showing friends around Richmond Hill, we take them to Willie Stouts, which hits that sweet spot of solid pub fare and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. The menu and drinks generally stick to classics, but the atmosphere is where things really shine. The wooden interior gets an upgrade with its firkin-themed design, and the old decor feels like something you’d find in a beloved neighborhood spot from the 80s.
Grab a pint of beer, an order of fries, and some BOGO wings, then settle in at the pool table and enjoy your evening while other places are still sorting out their wait times.
Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar & Grill
$ | (905) 503-8666 | WEBSITE
If there are two things every Richmond Hill resident can get behind, it’s burgers and cheap beer. And Chuck’s Roadhouse is one of our favorite spots for both. This is an entirely casual situation—it’s relaxed and welcoming for a quick bite—with a straightforward menu of classics like the chuck’s burger and fish & chips that you’ll want to work your way through over a few visits.
Get the burger and a draft beer special if it’s your first time, or just settle in for a perfectly cooked meal that won’t break the bank.
Jack’s Don Mills
$$ | (416) 331-9238 | WEBSITE
Jack’s Don Mills has been a Richmond Hill favorite for years, and there’s still a buzz almost every Friday evening. Everyone’s here for the same thing—the diverse menu, the exceptional patio dining, and the world’s most attentive service (doubt us, we dare you) delivered with genuine warmth and contagious enthusiasm. This is a charming spot with a cozy, inviting dining room set to a backdrop of framed magazine covers. It’s a perfect cross-section of the local dining scene throughout the seasons.
Show up during the week and you can probably snag a table without a reservation.
Orchid Garden Bar & Grill
$ | (416) 707-0222 | WEBSITE
Orchid Garden Bar & Grill serves up some of the best bar food in the whole neighborhood, and if you don’t believe us then ask the dozens of regulars who will inevitably be gathered around the pool table or out on the patio. Ask five of those same people what their favorite dish is and you’ll end up with five different answers, but we like the wonderful dinner option made possible by that helpful regular, along with the affordable daily specials.
The portions are also pretty generous, so you can just order a few things to share and treat yourself to a proper feast. Grab some drinks from the well-stocked bar on your way to your table. Pretty much all the cozy neighborhood spots in Richmond Hill have good music and friendly staff, and this one is no exception.
Moxies Beaver Creek Restaurant
$$ | (905) 764-9500 | WEBSITE
Moxies Beaver Creek Restaurant defined the phrase “bar and grill done right.” We can’t confirm if that’s their official motto, but they’re certainly one of the standout examples of the concept in Richmond Hill, and while other spots have tried to compete, Moxies Beaver Creek has remained consistently excellent.
The menu offers reliable favorites with creative twists—think new American grill classics like the vegetarian power bowl, lettuce wraps, tuna sushi roll, and mango chicken—which just means you’ll find something satisfying every time you visit. Expect to discover delicious takes on familiar dishes such as the beet salad with salmon, beef dip with truffle fries, and refreshing drinks like the $5 espresso martini.
If you’re looking for one really enjoyable meal with great vibes and welcoming staff in Richmond Hill, you should probably head to Moxies Beaver Creek.
VMV’s Bar & Grill
$$ | (416) 953-3008 | WEBSITE
VMV’s Bar & Grill wants to believe it’s just another bar and grill, and at one point it almost was. But the servers at this North York spot are too amazing, the food is too impressive, and the late-night hours are too convenient. It’s one of our favorite spots near York University, toeing the line between just about every category a restaurant can fall into, which also makes it pretty easy to find an occasion to visit.
Get fancy with a Granville Peach Sour if you want, or order their outstanding Cajun wings if you need a little boost to get you through the rest of the evening of hanging out with friends.
Limitless Bar & Grill
$ | (905) 597-5252 | WEBSITE
Some spots nail classic pub grub. Others, Asian-inspired dishes. It’s rare that a place does both so well, which is why we keep finding ourselves back at Limitless Bar & Grill. Start your evening with the Garlic Butter Shrimp, then come back later and end your night right where you began, this time with some BBQ Skewers off the grill. There’s also a relaxed, inviting atmosphere where you can get the same great food in a slightly more lively environment perfect for casual nights out.
Jack’s Vaughan
$$ | (905) 264-3790 | WEBSITE
This bar-and-grill is where you go to enjoy a great tortellini in a lively atmosphere that feels both fun and welcoming. Expect to find lots of casual dining classics on the menu, including family favorites and crowd-pleasing dishes. It gets especially busy during the evenings when people like to pair food with good conversation. The solution is simple—show up ready to relax when you can enjoy the same friendly service (and delicious food) and be out the door before the night winds down.
Silly Goose Pub
$ | (647) 347-8388 | WEBSITE
In a town full of bustling pubs and crowded bars, Silly Goose Pub brings something different to the local scene. This is a quiet, peaceful spot where you can actually enjoy your drink and conversation without shouting, whether that means settling into one of their cozy wooden booths with a cold beer, or trying their signature chk clud with perfectly crispy fries.
The standard pub fare is satisfying here, but if you skip their never-frozen wings marinated to perfection, you’re overlooking what makes this place special. Order those wings with a side of their freshly made dishes, grab another round from their friendly staff, and finish your visit feeling genuinely relaxed.
Tickled Toad Pub & Grill
$$ | (905) 771-1766 | WEBSITE
Richmond Hill has pubs and Toronto can have bistros—the Tickled Toad has local charm. There’s no better place to find it than at this landmark establishment. This beloved spot has been serving the community for over 30 years, but we love the current atmosphere, where in addition to classic pub fare, you can enjoy live music and fun themed nights. Grab a blackened steak to start, paired with a beer from their extensive menu.
Show up on a weekend evening and you’ll be in the perfect position to catch a beer league team celebrating or a family enjoying dinner together.
Carbon Bar and Grill
$ | (905) 762-8825 | WEBSITE
While most bar and grills in Richmond Hill focus on predictable pub fare, Carbon Bar and Grill is looking at the whole menu—and it’s cooking all of it. It’s like a love letter to comfort food, and this broad-minded approach to classics makes it the best way to experience a casual meal in the area. Everything has a straightforward approach—quality ingredients, simple preparations, and local appeal—and it’s applied to more than just the usual suspects.
The result is a place where crispy Cajun dry rub wings share a playing field with the most tender medium rare steak you’ve ever had. Come during the week or be ready to wait a bit.
