From the outside, you’ll see a simple sign above a welcoming entrance. But inside is the dining equivalent of a cozy mountain lodge—with a relaxed, inviting atmosphere throughout, and soft background music playing, both creating the perfect setting for a casual meal.
And if the name wasn’t an indicator, this is from the folks that bring you generous portions and excellent service, so you know there’s a strong attention to food that combines fresh ingredients and hygienic preparation. The unique experience of selecting your own vegetables and proteins makes it memorable, and the warm bread alongside the especially loved Mongolian noodle dish shows their big-hearted approach.
Craft by Smoke and Fire

Tucked away in a strip mall in Orange, Craft by Smoke and Fire is a moderately sized halal smokehouse with a limited but excellent selection of smoked meats, a few standout sides, and a small but strong cocktail list. You can definitely bring the family here for a big meal, but the majority of the tables are four-tops, all spaced comfortably apart, so it’s definitely more of a group dinner destination.
You can make reservations ahead of time, or just walk up to the simple glass door and give the host a wave—we’ve had pretty good luck walking in relatively early in the evening.
Anders Catering – EATS BBQ

It’s a party every day at Anders Catering – EATS BBQ, a family-friendly barbecue spot in Orange that’s been serving up fun alongside teriyaki chicken since Chef Kp took over. There’s a playful energy in the air keeping everyone entertained—with the dining room growing increasingly lively as Chef Kp cracks jokes and ensures even moody teens are smiling—but even on a quiet Tuesday, it’s one of the most welcoming places in town.
The food has gotten a little bit more refined over the years, but this is still one of the few spots where you can get a generous plate of chicken fried rice for $12 during lunch. And it’s probably the only restaurant in the county where you can (successfully) try to order teriyaki chicken with a side of laughter without feeling out of place.
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

Tucked into a strip mall in Orange—complete with bright tropical murals and all—L&L has been the spot for quick, generous Hawaiian plates since it opened. In that time it’s become one of the most reliable spots in town, attracting both families looking for a filling meal and regulars who have been coming for years. There’s counter service, and you can expect your food ready in 5–10 minutes when you call ahead—sometimes a full plate, sometimes just a Spam Musubi snack.
Depending on when you stop by, you may even catch the staff refunding a customer for a missing item before they even notice, that’s how genuine and honest they are.
I Can Barbecue- Korean Grill

There aren’t a lot of Korean barbecue spots that blend convenience and quality quite as well as I Can Barbecue, one of the most reliable options in Orange. Expect to find families enjoying generous meat cuts next to regulars who are remembered by the kind staff. The meat is always fresh and well-marinated, and the tables are filled with people grilling their own selections.
There are a few seafood options here, though this is probably one of those places where you’re enjoying the halal Korean barbecue or the corn tortillas. It’s also one of, if not the only, spot in the area with cute robot servers delivering your food.
Newport Rib Company

Newport Rib Company wants to believe it’s a high-end barbecue joint, and at one point it almost was. But the portions here are too generous, the service is too friendly, and the daily specials are too enticing. It’s one of our favorite spots in Orange, toeing the line between just about every category a restaurant can fall into. There’s also a great loyalty program for regulars, offering some of the best combos and deals in town.
Roast Fish & BBQ House

Stepping into Roast Fish & BBQ House feels a little like stepping into a bustling night market in East Asia. On one end of the lively space, you’ll find a glowing charcoal grill, sizzling skewers, and a long counter for ordering, while the other end plays host to a handful of communal tables. And all of it is outfitted with rustic wooden accents, string lights, and a vibrant color scheme.
Roast Fish & BBQ House is also home to one of our favorite charcoal-grilled dishes in town—basically a whole fish that went to culinary school. Think tender QingJiang Roast Fish with a mildly spicy house-style sauce, plus all the usual fixings like juicy lamb skewers and crispy chicken skin. And at just $18 for the whole fish, it feels like Roast Fish & BBQ House has really committed to the authentic theme.
M Korean BBQ & Misoolkwan

When you want to try authentic Korean barbecue in Orange, head to M Korean BBQ & Misoolkwan. Here, the menu features flavorful dishes, including the popular cheese corn and kimchi that pairs well with cilantro. And while the restaurant does have various platters with beef and pork, this is one of the best places to enjoy generous portions with refillable banchan. It’s lively inside, with diverse music genres playing that create a surprisingly fun environment for drinks and hanging out.
iMenu

Stepping into the courtyard at iMenu feels like discovering some secret garden with cozy tables tucked between lush greenery every few feet. Except instead of being somewhere you pass by, you’ll want to grab a coffee and settle in for breakfast. iMenu is a breakfast spot through and through.
But their kitchen seems to have gotten the memo perfectly, which means that in addition to hearty portions, you can order Mediterranean omelets, chorizo potatoes with just the right kick, and a country burrito that will probably sneak into your weekend routine somehow. On any morning, you can even indulge in their chocolate chip pancakes.
Evan’s Smokehouse BBQ

The vibe at this Orange barbecue spot is basically “smoke, meat, and comfort,” but with a slightly more approachable feel than that description might suggest. They offer “brisket service” with consistently tender cuts, prepared about as well as any we’ve had the pleasure of tasting.
The rustic, inviting outdoor space toes the line between backyard picnic and “I wish my patio had string lights this charming.” Evan’s also has a family-friendly atmosphere, including a little area for kids to play when you need them occupied while you enjoy your “extra-tender pulled pork with a side of creamy mac and cheese.”
