Haven’t you heard? No one dines in Cascais. And while that old stereotype feels tired, there is a sliver of truth to it—Cascaitas definitely dine, we just don’t dine in predictable places.
Palmtree International Pub & Restaurant
A lively international spot in Cascais, Palmtree combines excellent terrace dining with entertaining tableside preparations. Seriously, who wants a standard meal when you can watch your steak being hand-cut right at your table or have parmesan freshly grated over your pasta? It’s the ultimate social dining experience, complete with outdoor heaters, cozy blankets, and a warm atmosphere that keeps everyone comfortable even on cooler evenings.
The drinks are consistently delicious and highly praised, while dishes like the beautifully presented salmon and octopus salad deliver authentic flavors that make for a delightful visit. Although some items like the shrimp tacos might not hit the mark for everyone, the helpful staff and overall vibrant setting make it a popular destination worth recommending.
Aroma’s Café e Restaurante
Tucked away from the tourist bustle, Aroma’s Café e Restaurante feels like stumbling upon a secret village square. With its unassuming charm and warm welcome, it’s the kind of place where you can finally relax and savor a proper meal. The cod à lagareiro is the star here—rich, flavorful, and worth every minute of the wait. At around $25 for the dish, it’s excellent value. The service is attentive without being intrusive, making the whole experience feel personal and pleasant.
It’s a simple, delightful spot that leaves you already planning your next visit.
Solar Do Bitoque
$ | WEBSITE
Stepping into Solar Do Bitoque in Cascais is like entering a culinary time warp—you’re met with a rustic, traditional Portuguese atmosphere full of warm wood tones and terracotta accents. It’s all reminiscent of a simpler era, one where mass-produced meals and “fast-casual dining” didn’t exist, plus there are great garlic-flavored dishes and a unique, out-of-the-ordinary culinary experience. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, creating a pleasant, laid-back vibe.
However, there have been concerns raised about the cleanliness of the plates, with one customer noting the presence of dirt on the egg served. Despite this, the restaurant seems to have a loyal customer base who enjoy the flavors, particularly the garlic-flavored dish. Waiting for a memorable meal? Check out their collection of local artwork and rustic décor near the entrance.

Rocha do Inferno is a welcoming beachside spot that has been serving Cascais for years. The restaurant isn’t a historical landmark, but it captures a classic seaside vibe with weathered wooden tables, colorful umbrellas, and sun-faded decor. There’s plenty of space both outside and inside, plus we get really excited about the rotating gelato flavors (the lemon slushie with a Pastel de Nata is a favorite).
Mais do Mesmo
We discover a new corner to savor at Mais do Mesmo with every visit. The cozy restaurant offers seating in the main dining area, even more in the back section (a modern nook that feels like a hidden gem), and additional spots by the bar. There, you’ll find warm lighting, simple decor, and friends sharing plates over drinks. If we could linger all evening at any spot, it would be this one.

But even if you’re not the type who geeks out over rainbow drinks, Escotilha comes in clutch with enough seating and views that you won’t need to battle someone trying to finish their novel. Their grilled sea bream and garlic olive oil are also a nice treat to give yourself after exactly one sunset walk.

There’s a pleasing, relaxed atmosphere that is so comfortable you’re lulled into a state of pure contentment.

And despite the simple, unassuming interior, it’s genuinely warm and inviting, and they make the most of the cozy space, with well-spaced tables and charming outdoor seating. We’re fans of the sweet, relaxed atmosphere that fills the place, which makes us feel like we’re on a proper holiday instead of just grabbing a quick bite.
The Crafty Cellar
The Crafty Cellar feels like a straightforward brewery, with a simple outdoor patio and unpretentious wooden tables. But you’re not here for frills. You’re here because you need somewhere to unwind with a solid craft beer after a long day. This Cascais spot is that place: a small seating area outside perfect for people watching, with a straightforward selection of drinks and ales. No one here is trying to impress you, and everyone’s just enjoying their huge nachos and refreshing beers.
The service is very good, and the bar tender lets you sample beers to ensure you pick what you want—like the popular New England IPA or the apple cider, which all have that slight sour note that makes them refreshing. It’s a fine and varied selection, with IPAs on par with what we’d drink in the US. The atmosphere can be dead sometimes, but it’s a great place to bring kids and just relax without any fuss.
Beef It Cascais
We’re convinced that Beef It Cascais was specifically built for memorable evenings. This exceptional restaurant in Cascais offers outstanding service and high-quality food throughout. If you’re looking for a standout dish, try the sea bass baked in sea salt because there’s probably nothing else quite like it. The cataplana at Beef It Cascais is particularly notable, and we’re always in the mood for their perfectly prepared Amêijoas and robalo to kick off our dining experience.
Their dessert wine list featuring a range of old and vintage ports adds to the overall ambiance.
