Let’s be real: sometimes you just need a drink and a damn good meal without the chatter. We’ve scoured North Las Vegas for spots where solo diners can savor every bite and sip in peace. Whether you’re escaping small talk or just want to focus on the flavors, these nine bars deliver—no judgment, just exceptional food and drinks, all yours.
Scoundrels Pub II
$ | (702) 642-8014 | WEBSITE
We have no trouble heading straight to this North Las Vegas neighborhood spot for their legendary, loaded short rib fries—the path to the sports bar counter feels like second nature by now. The bar area is much cozier and welcoming than the lively pool table section. Plus, watching a game on the big screen is better than our default mode of mindless phone scrolling.
After devouring a plate of buffalo chicken fries and several bomb drinks (the happy hour specials specifically), we may get back on our phones to look up more sports stats.
Foothills Tavern
$ | (702) 646-7500 | WEBSITE
Foothills Tavern on Gowan Road is one of those local spots where everything on the menu stays under $15, which works perfectly when you’re flying solo after a long day. Grab a seat at the bar and order a cold draft from their solid beer selection. Or settle into one of their worn-in booths, where you can watch the regulars at the neighboring chain restaurants choosing generic appetizers over these way better mozzarella sticks.
And though they serve individual portions, don’t hesitate to get the full order of wings—even if you’re by yourself. The crispy wings with a side of ranch are so good you’ll want extras for later. The bartenders like Sarah and Jamie keep things moving with friendly professionalism, making sure your drink never hits empty while the diverse music playlist adds just the right background vibe to this down-to-earth neighborhood tavern.
Bourbon Street Bar
$ | (702) 395-0550 | WEBSITE
Weekend afternoons (a.k.a. Saturday day) notoriously drag and are the times we most-prefer to avoid crowds. Bourbon Street Bar is the perfect escape because they operate as a corporate-owned sports bar in the suburbs during those long hours. A comfortable seat at the typical sports bar provides the company of a friendly bartender who serves limited drinks due to a shortage of a real cook.
Although one sip of their basic beer selection won’t magically solve our boredom, it makes us tolerate the weekend slump a little more.
Dotty’s
$$$$ | WEBSITE
Few spots feel more like a neighborhood refuge than a locals’ joint. And if there were a North Las Vegas value ranking, Dotty’s would take the top slot. They do occasionally have other patrons at the video poker machines scattered throughout their clean, new space. Their menu staples, like a tasty hamburger that sells out quickly and cheaper cigarettes, are a step up from standard convenience fare.
Plus, after grabbing a bite, nothing makes you feel more at home than sharing a laugh with the friendly staff.
Village Pub Aliante
$ | (725) 204-6018 | WEBSITE
Village Pub Aliante has been a reliable neighborhood spot in North Las Vegas for years. It’s easy to overlook this convenient pub as just another breakfast destination, particularly because of their popular (and busy) Sunday morning breakfast rush. But dining here on a weekday evening has its advantages. For starters, Village Pub’s fish and chips are consistently delicious, so we wouldn’t trade our last crispy fillet for anything—not even another Raiders victory.
And because the portions are so generous, more dining companions just means more to share. As a bonus, it’s never uncomfortable here because the welcoming pub atmosphere always makes us feel right at home.
Viva Zapata’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina
$ | (702) 643-8888 | WEBSITE
Any Mexican restaurant is an ideal place for a family meal. But because Viva Zapata’s tends to be less hectic, you won’t feel rushed like you would at bigger chains. With a fun atmosphere and delicious dishes like the carnitas and chicken enchiladas, we often stop in for a quick, satisfying lunch when we’re in no mood for a fuss but also don’t want to eat fast food.
The shrimp taco lunch special and carne asada nachos hit the spot every time, and the friendly service makes travelers feel very welcome. The Mexican music creates a delightful ambiance without being overwhelming, and the reasonable prices mean you can enjoy some of the best food in town without breaking the bank. It’s a great spot for a meal that’s both inexpensive and wonderful.
Bourbon Street Sports Bar
$ | (702) 798-0765 | WEBSITE
We don’t need a big game on TV to enthusiastically grab a cold beer at this lively sports bar (especially if we’re just passing through anyways). If we’re flying solo, it’s easy to snag a stool or claim a table and have a full-on game night at this North Las Vegas spot. Bright neon signs and sports memorabilia mean we can blend right in with the local crowd.
After we put away a couple of surprisingly tasty burgers, we captain our own ship to the crispy chicken tenders and polish off a basket of loaded fries. There aren’t a lot of culinary surprises here (only a limited but solid menu), but the atmosphere is fun and the sounds of nearby arcade games helps drown out any freeway noise.
Winchell’s Pub & Grill
$ | (702) 636-4949 | WEBSITE
Seasoned bar-goers know the thrill of claiming a prime spot during happy hour. But newcomers to pub dining might need a gentle introduction. And Winchell’s Pub & Grill is the perfect place to start. Walking into the bright, airy dining room where families and friends chatter over generous plates is at first overwhelming. But within minutes of settling at the bar, the friendly bartender or a neighboring regular will strike up a conversation.
Maybe it’s because everyone has had a few cold beers, but Winchell’s bar patrons generally seem to be an extra welcoming bunch, so it’s easy to enjoy crispy catfish fillets with tartar sauce with your newfound bar companion who you’ll likely see again next week.
Surf City Bar & Grill
$ | (702) 633-4234 | WEBSITE
Let the sounds of seafood flautas sizzling on the grill lead you back to the bar at Surf City, a beach-themed restaurant and grill. Just think of it as a quick pit stop for a drink or a full meal. And nothing is more essential than a classic seafood flauta. Neighborhood folks moseying in to grab a drink or a snack are quick to say ‘hello,’ giving the place a friendly, lively feel.
While most people take their food to go, it’s almost spiritually enlightening to devour one of the city’s best seafood flautas at the bar in relative silence without feeling rushed by servers eager to turn their table.
