You’ve found someone who shares your love for late-night food adventures, until you discover they think bubble tea is just overpriced sugar water. They’re not lactose intolerant—they genuinely believe tapioca pearls are culinary heresy. While you question whether this fundamental difference is relationship-ending, you’re determined to prove that Bakersfield’s best boba spots can convert even the staunchest skeptics.
Bumble Tea and Cafe
$ | (661) 447-4034 | WEBSITE
For a refreshing escape from the Bakersfield heat with one or more people who appreciate customizable sweetness, this inviting boba spot works perfectly. It’s on the affordable side for a highly-rated bubble tea destination – the signature drinks mostly hover around $6 – but keep in mind that you’ll probably want a Strawberry Colada all to yourself.
Bangkok Street Food
$ | (661) 885-8588 | WEBSITE
It’s hard to enjoy Thai tea when you’re busy eating green curry, and it’s easy to enjoy green curry during Bangkok Street Food’s lunch specials (available every weekday from 11am-2pm), when it’s only $9.95 a bowl. Round out your meal with some of the reliable – but less cost-effective – Thai specialties, like flavorful curries, generous noodle dishes, or authentic street food plates.
Boba Point
$ | (661) 742-1434 | WEBSITE
The closest thing to a heavy dessert you’ll find at Boba Point is the Oreo shake, which is something you should absolutely order as long as your sweet tooth doesn’t mind a rich treat. This modest spot in Bakersfield is open with plenty of parking, so if you’re not in the mood for a shake, try other things like the taro smoothie, Thai tea milk tea, and Nagasaki milk tea.
It’s Boba Time Stockdale HWY
$ | (661) 556-4003 | WEBSITE
This is a bubble tea spot, and legend tells us that boba lovers like their drinks sweet. But you can have a fantastic beverage here without it (although if you’re avoiding sugar altogether, you might have more trouble). The Thai tea with boba and pudding is a signature drink, and if you’re willing to go big, this place has one of the best PB chocolate banana smoothies with boba we’ve tried in Bakersfield.
Sweet Pop Boba
$ | (661) 665-8888 | WEBSITE
Sweet Pop Boba serves some of our favorite bubble tea in Bakersfield, and it’s worth a trip for the refreshing mango milk tea, banana milk tea, and Thai tea. Your coffee preferences will be largely irrelevant here, although keep in mind that a few things do have green tea latte.
Sharetea Bakersfield
$ | (661) 873-4318 | WEBSITE
We’re not saying you’re going to be able to enjoy all the best drinks at this hidden gem in East Bakersfield if you hate boba, but you will still be able to have an excellent experience here. Start with the classic Pearl milk tea with extra boba, then try some modifications without charge. This is perfect for a calm hangout with some friends after school or work, or family members you’re trying to connect with.
Cafe Tori
$ | (661) 735-5605 | WEBSITE
This is another great option for fans of non-coffee-based sweet treats. Cafe Tori’s menu is most easily navigated when you’re sampling with several other people (if there are just two of you, it gets pricey fast). So come with a small group, or maybe bring your friends, and get a whole bingsu or a bunch of different drinks like the Assam black milk tea with coffee jelly and matcha lattes.
It’s all kind-of-indulgent without feeling so heavy that it’s overwhelming, and any coffee-lovers at your table can share an Oreo frappe or dalgona coffee with boba.
Presotea Allen
$$ | (661) 770-5797 | WEBSITE
This one’s for the boba skeptic who hates tapioca. Actually, it’s for the boba skeptic who hates tapioca, is willing to drop $7 on a Matcha Cloud, and is also relatively decisive, because if you can’t pick from the wide variety of flavors when you walk in here, you’re f*cked.
Presotea Gosford
$ | (661) 384-5456 | WEBSITE
One of our favorite new bubble tea spots of 2025 is also an excellent place to continue pursuing your sweet-tooth lifestyle. In part because you can come here and drink “tea” that has no bitterness of any kind (it’s made of roasted oolong and topped with things like pudding and panda boba, or mango cloud and cream). You’ll want the creme brûlée with pudding and panda boba, too, and the roasted oolong tea.
Mochido
$ | (661) 808-9379 | WEBSITE
As long as you like sweet treats, you’ll be happy at Mochido in Bakersfield. Just follow these instructions: arrive, approach the counter, pick out whichever customizable drink you’d like to have, and then decide which Korean fusion dish to pair it with. We like to get the fantastic bubble tea, plus a Korean corn dog described as out of this world. Get some Korean milk donuts to finish, too.
Devil & Angel Bakersfield
Devil & Angel Bakersfield is a further step down on the snack ladder in terms of price, but still a great place to grab a corndog – and over the course of a visit here, it won’t be hard to briefly forget salads exist. Order the hot Cheetos half and half dog or a sunset galaxy boba, then go home and watch a show about home renovation for the third afternoon this week.
