Back when ‘fast food’ meant a hurried meal rather than a culinary category, we began chronicling the very best quick-service spots for very specific cravings. Now, we’re zeroing in on Morgan Hill’s finest – from drive-thru burgers to lightning-fast tacos, and everything in between.
Taco Bell
$ | (408) 779-2500 | WEBSITE
Yeah, it made our 10 Best Fast Food Restaurants in Morgan Hill list this year, but IMHO, there may not be a more underappreciated item on the menu than the quesadilla at Taco Bell. Stuffed with fresh ingredients and cheese, it’s simple, savory, satisfying, and certainly not the kind of thing you’d see on your Instagram feed – but what good fast food is?
Carl’s Jr.
$ | (408) 779-6411 | WEBSITE
Quite possibly my favorite fast-food spot in all of Morgan Hill, this burger joint on the main strip is known for their double Western bacon cheeseburger (for good reason), but my favorite thing here is the classic green burrito. Though, to be honest, their crispy, satisfying biscuit sandwiches are the perfect meal for just about any craving.
McDonald’s
$ | (408) 779-8182 | WEBSITE
I’m passing through Morgan Hill fairly often, so it’s become a regular pit stop for me. There are several different value meal options on the menu, ranging from $8-15, so whatever you (and your appetite) are in the mood for today, they’ll have you covered.
MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes
$ | (408) 779-2255 | WEBSITE
A loyal customer (Thanks, Sarah!) tipped me off that this beloved burger joint has been quietly perfecting their veggie options, adding a standout lettuce wrap burger to the menu. And I’m grateful she did – their veggie burger (juicy, flavorful, and served in that crisp lettuce wrap) is outstanding. Don’t worry, you can still order their phenomenal Patty Melt with Sweet Potato Fries, too.
MOD Pizza
$ | (669) 258-0000 | WEBSITE
This MOD Pizza in Morgan Hill is my go-to when I’m craving customizable pizza. Their fresh dough – soft and chewy – is baked to perfection with crispy edges, and goes great with any combination of sauces and toppings. The cheese bread is a favorite side that’s always warm and gooey. While the customizable options can add up, making it a bit pricey for fast food, the spotless environment and friendly staff like Sage, who pays great attention to detail, make it worth the occasional splurge.
Kids especially love designing their own pizzas here, and the vegetarian options are solid too. With the rewards app available, it’s a fun choice for a quick, personalized meal.
Burger King
$ | (669) 253-2809 | WEBSITE
Earlier today, I grabbed Burger King’s new chicken sandwich – one of my go-to orders here – and it was almost as satisfying as dining in. A perfectly hot sandwich, a side of those famously soft fries, and a large drink for just under $10. I’ll be back tomorrow.
In-N-Out Burger
$ | (800) 786-1000 | WEBSITE
The fact that In-N-Out Burger is still a Californian classic is undeniable. The fact they’re doing a Flying Dutchman for only $5 is borderline miraculous. I was worried it might not be that satisfying, but I was quickly proven wrong. The burger is huge, the flavor is immense, and I was extremely sad when it was over.
Jack in the Box
$ | (408) 763-5450 | WEBSITE
Why the hell are there such a limited number of drive-thru lanes available? Can’t they just… Anyway, if it’s those deep-fried tacos you’re after, I can’t recommend this spot in Morgan Hill enough, specifically their barria tacos, which come with an industrial-sized container of sauce that you’ll need to specify clearly to avoid mix-ups. The staff stays attentive even late at night, and the service stays efficient with minimal wait times, though parking can be tight if you’re towing something.
The condiments are well-stocked, and the environment stays clean, making it a generally positive experience despite occasional order issues. Just skip the Boba Thai Tea—those boba pearls can turn into little pellets.
Panda Express
$ | (408) 779-5139 | WEBSITE
Sometimes the highest form of self care is to just say f*ck it and order a quart of orange chicken. Panda Express gets it. Panda Express always gets it.
Five Guys
$ | (408) 776-9800 | WEBSITE
Five Guys in Morgan Hill serves my favorite burger in town. It’s a customizable cheeseburger with all the toppings included, it costs about $9.50, and it’s perfect. But they’ve also got the best hand-cut fries around, cooked twice for crispiness and available Cajun-style with spicy seasoning. I always grab a generous portion of those fries and a creamy milkshake, too, to make an extremely satisfying (casual) comfort food meal.
