We’ve savored countless plates of pasta and tasted more tiramisu than we care to admit to bring you this definitive guide to Katy’s finest Italian dining. And there’s plenty to celebrate here, despite what any smug big-city food snob might suggest about Texas and Italian cuisine. This list features everything from cozy family trattorias to elegant modern ristorantes serving authentic flavors you’ll only find in Katy.
Da Vinci Ristorante Italiano
$$$ | (281) 392-2115 | WEBSITE
Da Vinci Ristorante Italiano’s Italian classics are comforting yet refined, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. If you’re a fan of lasagna bolognese and penne with sausage, theirs is excellent. It also comes in generous portions that ensure you leave satisfied. This place is great for a romantic dinner, and a nice backup plan if other spots in Katy are too crowded. But Da Vinci is destination Italian in its own right.
They also have a cozy, heart-themed ambiance throughout that makes for a memorable experience.
Pizza Bella Katy
$ | (281) 693-3880 | WEBSITE
Pizza Bella Katy proudly calls itself an Italian restaurant (it’s right there in the name). But you should absolutely try at least one pizza. The menu stays consistent, but the Margherita pizza is always available and highly recommended. The fresh basil leaves on top are more aromatic than peppery. They’re scattered between creamy mozzarella and hidden under a generous drizzle of olive oil. The pizza is brushed with garlic butter.
The resulting slice bursts with tangy tomato sauce and finishes with a slightly crispy crust.
Marco’s Pizza
$ | (281) 395-2900 | WEBSITE
The fresh, round pizzas come out of the oven throughout the day at this popular Katy spot (but they’ll keep making them until closing if you’re craving a late-night slice). This is the kind of straightforward, quality-focused pizza that really lets the ingredients shine. And what ingredients they are: the dough is perfectly balanced—tender and flavorful inside, but with enough crispness and structure to hold up under generous toppings.
Options are reliably satisfying—fresh tomato sauce, quality mozzarella, and maybe some roasted vegetables for the vegetarian choices. The staff works hard to keep things moving even during busy times, and the kid-friendly atmosphere makes it a solid choice for a reliable, enjoyable meal.
La Estancia Italian Restaurant
$$ | (346) 307-7412 | WEBSITE
We’ll always be able to brag to Houstonians about La Estancia. It’s not that they don’t have Italian spots. They do (and some serve excellent pasta). But their Italian restaurants often come with inflated prices and crowded dining rooms. At ours in Katy, you may be able to enjoy a quiet candlelit dinner without breaking the bank.
Unlike most Italian food, which tends to neatly follow some sort of traditional recipe, La Estancia’s is a perfect hybrid between classic comfort dishes and inventive sauces. The veal Marsala is tender towards the center and starts to get richer and more flavorful the closer you get to that unique Marsala sauce.
The pizza shoppe
$ | (281) 574-8899 | WEBSITE
This Katy pizza spot brings a taste of the East Coast to Texas with New York-style slices you’ll crave even if you didn’t just finish a long day. They serve fantastic pizza alongside buffalo wings and garlic knots that truly impress. You can order by the slice or as a whole pie if you’ve got friends who appreciate authentic NY-style food. It’s a tremendous way to enjoy high-quality Italian fare with excellent service in a pleasant atmosphere.
Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant,Katy
$ | (281) 239-6336 | WEBSITE
Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant in Katy offers reliable classics like pizza and pasta. But Russo’s excels in creating a welcoming atmosphere. They deliver attentive service with staff like Daniela providing fast and friendly help, and maintain a homey vibe that makes customers want to return. The food is consistently great and a delight to eat—though the TV programming, which once featured a drag show, may not suit all audiences.
Overall, Russo’s is a solid choice for families and individuals seeking good food and service in a comfortable setting.
Adriatic Cafe Italian Grill
$ | (713) 405-7100 | WEBSITE
Adriatic Cafe Italian Grill is a Katy Italian institution, and what our neighbors over in Houston have called “reasonable-price royalty.” Like so many Houston spots, they now have a second home in Katy. Adriatic Cafe is located in Katy, and its reputation is deserved. They make a deliciously uncomplicated Italian meal. It sits on a white plate like a family recipe passed down through generations. Adriatic Cafe is also accommodating.
You can stop in and, even if they’re busy, have a hot meal in a matter of minutes.
Crust Pizza Co. – Katy/Cinco Ranch
$ | (281) 769-9920 | WEBSITE
On any given day (but especially on weekends), this casual Italian pizza spot in Katy/Cinco Ranch has a kitchen turning out perfectly crusty pizzas with pillowy soft interiors and plentiful fresh toppings. We have loved every pie we’ve tried, like one loaded with classic pepperoni and mushrooms. Their version of a margherita, which is topped with fresh basil and mozzarella, is also excellent.
This is a monthly visit that’ll keep you coming back for more, and their outdoor turf courtyard is a great call if the weather’s nice.
Antonia’s Restaurant
$$ | (281) 644-6000 | WEBSITE
Whether you love Italian food or want to experience it for the first time, you should head to Antonia’s. They’ve got plenty of options, but the Alfredo fettuccine—a house specialty—is our favorite. This pasta has a similar richness to classic Alfredo, but that’s where the similarities end. Antonia’s version has a light and fluffy sauce with a slightly rich taste that coats every strand perfectly.
The standout appetizer is the Bruchetta, with fresh mozzarella and flavorful ingredients piled high on crisp bread. It is a dish for people who think fresh ingredients are the best part of Italian cooking.
Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen – Morton Ranch
$ | (281) 396-4694 | WEBSITE
Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen – Morton Ranch is a restaurant with a cozy, clean dining room that feels like a neighborhood spot, a friendly staff that makes you feel right at home, and a straightforward menu that focuses on doing the classics well. But they also serve some of Katy’s absolute best New York-style pizzas (their namesake is from New York, after all), and you will indeed be praising the pepperoni pizza when you discover its dough is perfectly crisp and chewy.
This is a fold-and-eat pizza—a true New York slice—so check this place out next time you’re craving one.
Postino Cinco Ranch
$$ | (281) 500-9770 | WEBSITE
We have never had a more perfect casual Italian meal than the one served at Postino Cinco Ranch, a lively gathering spot in the heart of Katy. This is why there’s often a wait for a table at the popular restaurant (and probably a crowd at the bar for their brunch too). The sandwiches and boards on the menu have flavors that are impressive from start-to-finish, yet still comforting and shareable when you dig into them.
The highlight of the menu is a bruschetta board with amazing drinks that made us briefly forget our surroundings. If you’re allergic to crowds, go right at opening on a Tuesday.
Krico’s Latin Kitchen & Bar
$ | (832) 437-4134 | WEBSITE
There are plenty of Italian spots around Katy now. But this unique yet satisfying fusion started here, inside a hotel-adjacent space just off Katy Mills. It’s those unexpected combinations of flavors that make us appreciate Krico’s so much. The gyro pizza has pepperoni, feta, tzatziki sauce, and lamb—and it sent us into a moment of culinary bewilderment before completely winning us over.
The rest of the dishes under the ‘Italian favorites’ portion of the menu are what you should focus on, even if the Latin-Italian blend seems a little unconventional at first.
Hasta La Pasta
$ | (281) 392-0045 | WEBSITE
Hasta La Pasta is in a part of Katy where your Italian options are severely limited, but this place is not like the chain restaurants you’ll find across the highway. It’s actually good—especially their chicken Marsala. The sauce is rich, the chicken is tender, and we never expected to have such a pleasant meal so close to the suburbs. They go a little too wild with some portions, so stick to your basic eggplant parmesan.
Italian Pizza & Pasta
$ | (281) 398-6400 | WEBSITE
You can tell the team at Italian Pizza & Pasta has a special relationship with their ingredients. The pizza crust crunches where it ought to, is chewy where it needs to be, and has a flavor encouraged by almost a decade of experience and a recent ownership change that elevated everything. There are generous portions to enjoy, like the pasta deal with meatballs and garlic bread for around $27. Or the affordable lunch special with pizza and drink for just $8.
If you can only choose one, go for the pasta, which tickles the same memory that was awakened upon your very first taste of truly satisfying Italian comfort food.
Armani Pizza and Pasta
$ | (281) 676-4441 | WEBSITE
It’s perfectly fine to just order a sandwich at this cozy Katy Italian spot—but if you did that you’d be missing out on the spectacular Persian pizza. Our favorite is the white pizza covered in creamy ricotta, generous garlic, and exceptional cheese flavor. The Kalbas sandwich is also deliciously savory. Those are white pies, but there are also options with tomato sauce, like the sausage pizza with pepperoni and ricotta.
All of the above have crusts so perfectly baked, someone in Houston might try to make a souvenir out of it. This place has a small, quiet atmosphere (and great for so many of the same reasons). But that white pizza is the reason why you’ll want to come back.
Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
$$ | (281) 492-1244 | WEBSITE
Katy is known for its family-friendly suburbs, excellent Tex-Mex spots, and now (thanks to Olive Garden) some of the area’s most reliable Italian fare. During dinner hours, there’s often a wait because these classic dishes are consistently satisfying. The breadsticks taste like a warm, comforting embrace—soft, buttery, and perfectly seasoned.
All of Olive Garden’s pastas have creamy sauces that coat each strand and cling beautifully, creating a rich base for generous portions of favorites like shrimp Alfredo and chicken marsala. The service is attentive and friendly, with servers creating special moments like birthday celebrations with cake and music, making it a great place for gatherings.
Sapore Detroit Pizzeria
$ | (281) 665-7161 | WEBSITE
Sapore Detroit Pizzeria is a spacious family-friendly spot in Katy, and it’s where you should take a homesick (for Detroit-style pizza) Michigander. They use a unique Detroit-style dough, which gives the crust an exceptional crispiness. The 10×14 Half & Half: The Windsor Tunnel & Beef, Mushroom, and tomato is excellent. Both sides are generous and flavorful, with perfect ratios of toppings to sauce, but the Windsor Tunnel is the standout.
This is a great family event pizza choice, and a good weeknight takeout option since it’s in a convenient Katy location.
Palinuro Italian Cuisine
$$$ | (281) 394-2495 | WEBSITE
If you haven’t been lucky enough to experience authentic Italian cooking in Katy, good news: Palinuro Italian Cuisine is the real deal. There’s no other Italian spot in the area like Palinuro with its house-made pastas and true Italian vibe. They are perfect for pasta lovers. The Spaghetti Pescatora is fantastic thanks to its fresh seafood and perfectly cooked noodles. If you like spice, consider trying the Italian spicy oil that adds a special touch to any dish.
The Ossobuco Milanese—its rich, tender sibling served with creamy risotto—is also simply delicious (you can pair it with a Montepulciano wine, too).
Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen – Katy Reserve
$ | (832) 981-7727 | WEBSITE
Russo’s is our go-to Italian kitchen in Katy, and it all comes down to their pesto gnocchi. It’s just the right amount of creamy—somewhere between fresh basil and rich parmesan. The Katy Reserve spot looks like it belongs in a cozy neighborhood corner. You can barely see the fabulous decor under all the warmth and chatter. The friendly owner makes rounds to tables, where you can see them preparing fresh dishes like Lasagna and Tortellini Alla Vodka. We order ours with garlic bread.
It comes out crispy and adds a garlicky crunch that balances out the creamy pasta.
DaddyO’s Pizza – Katy
$ | (346) 377-0777 | WEBSITE
DaddyO’s Pizza is a daunting spot for anyone paralyzed by pizza possibilities. The topping combinations for their fresh-crusted pies are abundant. The silver lining is that we’ve never sampled one from their Texas kitchen that left us disappointed. If you crave something hearty, opt for the Long Island pizza crowned with well-balanced sausage and spinach. It runs you an extra $1.50 to snag a side of ranch for your crust. Make the splurge. The creamy ranch is too delicious just for crust edges.
Dunk the whole slice in it.
