Let’s be honest: when you’re craving pizza in Bloomington, you’re not just looking for food—you’re seeking salvation. Maybe you’re a student cramming for finals, a parent surviving Little 500 weekend, or just someone who wandered too far from Kirkwood. Whatever brings you here, Bloomington delivers. We’ve scoured the town for the perfect slice. Here are the 10 best pizza spots to satisfy that essential hunger.
Aver’s Pizza, South
$$ | (812) 323-8333 | WEBSITE
Aver’s Pizza, South is the dictionary definition of “under the radar.” This casual pizza joint sits in a strip mall with plenty of parking, but inside you’ll find a laid-back spot with friendly staff and divine pies. The menu revolves around incredible crusts and unique combinations. You’ll find classics like pepperoni and cheese, but we love the chicken with barbecue and banana peppers or the popular vegetarian Cuban black bean.
Each of these gorgeous pizzas costs around $25 for a large, but the fully loaded toppings make them feel like a deal. Don’t skip the sweet treat of monkey bread or the lunch slices that have become a favorite for some. The cream and crimson pizza, especially with added chicken and ham, is consistently excellent—truly the best pizza in town.
Toppers Pizza
$ | (812) 287-0277 | WEBSITE
There are so many pizza joints in Bloomington that we felt compelled to rank them, but if you’re going to have one, you might as well (spoiler alert) order the best one. Toppers’ top-quality pizzas with fun topping options are our favorites, and their location has a great atmosphere where you can grab a seat and eat a pie at its best: straight out of the oven.
Their garlic cheese stix, especially the cinnamon ones covered in actual chopped garlic, are absolute fire, and the attentive staff ensures every order—even with online deals—is handled with the best customer service in town. It’s open late and a favorite among locals who order from there every time they want pizza.
Fazoli’s
$ | (812) 332-3566 | WEBSITE
Fazoli’s is a family-friendly Italian spot from the fast-casual pizza and pasta people. For dinner, many pizza places offer just whole pies, so as good as their pizzas can be, if you’re looking for a quick family meal in Bloomington (or an affordable option that fits your weeknight schedule), Fazoli’s is the better choice. While we enjoyed the Fettuccine Alfredo we ordered, the classic breadsticks should be the priority here.
Our current favorite is the unlimited breadsticks served warm with that signature buttery garlic flavor that tastes like a snack we’d indulge in too much of on a cozy movie night.
Hunt Brothers Pizza
$ | (812) 332-0527 | WEBSITE
Hunt Brothers Pizza is a walk-up counter that serves every pizza craving you can imagine. Focus on the menu’s delicious slices, like squares of pepperoni, sausage, and a whole breakfast pizza looking perfect on a paper plate. If you’ve got room, tack on another slice—it’s cheesy, full of fresh toppings, and a lot more satisfying than you might think.
Domino’s Pizza
$ | (812) 650-7033 | WEBSITE
Of the countless pizza options in Bloomington, Domino’s Pizza exists at the top of the reliability-meets-value pyramid. For years, this local chain has been serving consistently good pizza at affordable prices. Go for the regular deals—basically two pizzas with a wide variety of toppings and crust options for one price.
But if you know exactly which specific toppings you want (or which ones you don’t), you could also just order all the à la carte pizza your heart desires, while trusting the friendly and professional staff to deliver hot, fresh pizza like clockwork.
Baldi’s Pizzeria
$ | (812) 824-3555 | WEBSITE
Baldi’s Pizzeria feels worlds away from the chain pizza places that dominate Bloomington. It has a welcoming lunchtime ambiance, a straightforward menu, and a commitment to serving an otherwise neglected ZIP Code. We suggest prioritizing the pizza over the side salad. The smallish menu features cheesy cheese sticks, customizable pies with extra sauce options, and the standout supreme pizza loaded with meat and vegetables. Stop by when you need some reprieve and a slice that won’t break the bank.
Pizza X Downtown
$ | (812) 900-4648 | WEBSITE
We love a few simple cheese slices for lunch, but sometimes we crave extra flair. That’s exactly what Pizza X Downtown specializes in. This popular, late-night spot has several vegetarian options and each one is more satisfying than a standing ovation. There’s the popular ‘Eve’s Garden’ pizza with fresh vegetables, a gluten-free crust option for those with dietary needs, and piping hot pies that arrive on time or even early.
These quality pizzas are on the affordable side, but we’ll pay for some extra reliability every now and then.
Bucceto’s Pizza Pasta
$$ | (812) 331-1234 | WEBSITE
Tucked away in Bloomington, this pizza and pasta spot works perfectly for a casual dinner with friends. The menu is full of classics you’ve likely tried elsewhere, like gourmet pizzas and vodka pasta, plus some you might not expect (like gluten-free breadsticks with nacho cheese sauce). Either way, the food at Bucceto’s features generous portions and amazing flavors that make dishes here taste like you’re discovering them all over again.
If you’re looking for a good place to start, get the fantastic gluten-free vodka pasta with its rich sauce. If you’re dining in, expect a welcoming atmosphere with friendly and attentive service.
Da vinci pizza and pasta
$$ | (812) 822-0143 | WEBSITE
Da Vinci Pizza and Pasta is a bit of a local legend these days, but a visit to their Bloomington spot for one of their Neapolitan-style pies is a pilgrimage every pizza lover must take. The wait can get busy—this isn’t necessarily a “quick bite”—but Da Vinci’s pistachio with hot honey repays you for your patience with a crispy crust, a generous drizzle of honey, and a perfect sprinkle of pistachios.
All of that cheesy goodness might put you in a food coma afterward, so maybe skip the heavy seafood ravioli if you’re heading back to work.
Eric Gordon’s Greek’s Pizzeria
$ | (812) 822-0222 | WEBSITE
If you’re craving pizza that actually tastes different from every other place in town, you better find something good to shove into your mouth. That’s where Eric Gordon’s Greek’s Pizzeria comes in. The popular spot in Bloomington offers a clean, welcoming atmosphere with IU athletic memorabilia on the walls, but it also functions as a well-oiled takeout operation.
Everything from the Greek’s Special pizza to the submarine sandwiches and chicken barbecue is excellent, but our go-to is the pizza with fresh-tasting toppings and a crispy crust. It’s possibly the best pizza in Bloomington, even if some would quibble about the slightly steep prices.
