If you’re in Faro, chances are high you’re here for the sun-drenched beaches and historic charm. But there’s a lot more to love about this place. The scene is more laid-back than Lisbon or Porto, which, along with the food, is part of the draw. When you’re craving a perfect slice after a day by the sea, these are our favorite pizzerias.
Pizza Hut
Whether you’re exploring Faro’s historic center or just craving a reliable pizza, it’s hard to beat Pizza Hut. Check out the spacious, wheelchair-accessible seating before settling in with a basket of their simple garlic bread and a traditional pizza with tuna and peppers. Move on to another slice while chatting with the attentive staff like Ana Flávia or Ms. Georgina, whose experience brings a welcome professionalism to the service.
End with a final bite of those juicy, tasty toppings, which will make you forget you came to Portugal for the seafood. Arrive early to enjoy it all in peace.
Restaurant Sizzalo
When we’re craving something simple and satisfying, this is where we head for a straightforward meal in a space that feels authentically old-town. There’s everything from hearty vegetable soup and fresh salads to crispy calimaris and generously sized pizzas with full meat options. This isn’t exactly a fine dining experience, but it works perfectly when you want something reliable after a day of exploring Faro.
Restaurante Pinguim – Lagoteis-Exploração De Hoteis, Lda.

Tucked away in a sports bar-style setting, this lively spot is perfect for casual meals and drinks while catching the game. Grab a seat at the bar for the full soccer fan experience, or settle into one of the booths for a more relaxed vibe with friends. Always try the generous pizza slices, crisp salads, and the satisfying meat and seafood plates with their house sauces.
We also appreciate the morning offerings here, with highlights like the rich coffee drinks and the complimentary samples that start your day right.
Amore Mio Faro

Amore Mio Faro is nestled right in the heart of Faro’s bustling center, where the spontaneous welcome and friendly atmosphere make it a charming spot to settle in. It’s definitely the kind of place where you can unwind, before or after enjoying some of the best thin-crust pizzas around. The dough comes out perfectly crisp, and standout dishes include the must-try garlic bread with cheese and the superb Trofie al Pesto.
We also get excited about the overall value—fast, helpful service and a pleasant environment keep customers coming back more than once. While the meals are generally satisfying, some might find the prices a touch high for the quality, and vegetarian options are few. Still, it’s a spot where visitors leave happy and eager to recommend it.
Boca Livre (Boca Livre – Faro)
Boca Livre is a pizza paradise that delights, but doesn’t disappoint. The restaurant in Faro is serving up a buffet that might include perfectly crisp chicken pizzas, flavor-packed pastas you’ll want to try again and again, and a spread of vegetarian options that feel thoughtfully curated. The kitchen shows care for every guest, so expect creamy four-cheese pasta and light, airy dough characteristic of great pizza, and sharp attention to dietary needs that makes everyone feel welcome.
You’ll practically savor every bite of the all-you-can-eat experience that surrounds each warm slice. If you’re looking for friendly service that isn’t rushed, Boca Livre is the perfect place to go for family night or to relax—there’s pleasant music on arrival, and an entire staff ready to pause their pace to make sure your glass is always full.
Alô Pizza
If you’re tired of the fancier pizza joints in town, Alô Pizza is a casual spot that has been serving delicious pies for years. Along with their classic offerings, like the popular Margherita (a must) and the pepperoni special, you’ll find options like mushroom and olive combinations and four-cheese blends. Pizzas are sold by the slice and there’s always a daily special like seasonal vegetable toppings.
The welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service, with friendly staff including Lucas who provides great assistance, make it a family-friendly destination suitable for children. Known for their delicious pizzas at a reasonable price, it’s a popular choice for special occasions.
Maxi Pizza Faro
Tucked away in a bright, clean space, Maxi Pizza Faro works perfectly for a casual family meal or quick dinner. The pizza is delicious here, just go knowing that the customization might be more extensive than you’d expect—think personalized toppings for dietary restrictions and kid-friendly options. For families, we love the build-your-own approach and the gluten-free crusts. All the pizzas are impressive, especially with the recent quality improvements noted by regulars.
The friendly staff makes the experience feel authentic and simple. Seating is straightforward and unpretentious, so you can usually walk in without much fuss.
l’Osteria
This spot is part of the charming dining scene in Faro, which has gained a following for its cozy atmosphere and delicious food. It’s a great place for lunch or an early dinner that feels a lot like being at a family gathering at your favorite relative’s place with the added benefit of being waited on as you relax in the pleasant outdoor seating area. Italian dishes like the Octopus Carpaccio and Black Spaghetti Livornese are standouts, along with the Lasagna al Anatra.
And in case you forgot you’re in Portugal, you’ll find a selection of wines including an enjoyable house red and vegetarian options that are very tasty and flavorful. End every visit with a taste of their extraordinary culinary art in the beautiful air-conditioned indoor area or the kid-friendly space with high chairs available.
Pizzeria Bell’Antonio
Pizzeria Bell’Antonio might seem like another charming Italian spot on a lively Downtown street, complete with that lovely outdoor seating area that draws you in. But we’re happy to overlook the postcard-perfect setting for a plate of their superb carbonara and the seafood spaghetti that’s done so well. Everything is delicious, but you should prioritize the loaded pizza, the amazing cod pieces for starters, and the braised beef cheek that shows real culinary finesse.
They also have the best pizza in Faro, which pairs perfectly with $4 house wines during the early evening. This is somewhere you’ll definitely want to stop by for a taste of that passion.
Domino’s Pizza Faro
This spot is part of the famous Domino’s chain, which has been serving up reliable pizzas across the globe for decades. Whether it’s the classic cheese pizzas for vegetarians or the hearty carvery options, all the food is good and worthy of a quick meal at some point during your stay. The staff provides exceptional and friendly service, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.
There are some standard tables and chairs, but you should also know that this place offers Monday and Tuesday discounts for those looking for a very good price on very good quality pizzas.
“São Pedro” Fusion Restaurant cozinha portuguesa e brasileira Pinseria Romana
São Pedro used to be located in the city center, but they moved slightly outside Faro a few years back. There’s not much of a scene here, but that’s OK since it’s an ideal spot to relax and have some high-quality fusion pizza and other Portuguese-Brazilian-Roman dishes.
There’s no wrong order here, with options like the fried polenta with mustard-honey sauce, garlic-cheese focaccia, and parmigiana pinsa, but we tend to gravitate towards the more creative pizzas like the one with spicy salami and the fantastic kebab pizza. This is also one of our go-to spots for takeout in the area.
La Forchetta
There is no way you can walk by La Forchetta, with its charming Italian atmosphere, live music on Sunday nights, and welcoming dining room, and not stop in for a meal. While we love dropping by with a friend for the pollo pasta and sangria, like the incredible caramel cheesecake, the reasonable prices work great for larger groups and food enthusiasts. When it comes to the food, go for the spinach and pesto fettuccini, and the vegetarian pizzas if they’re on the menu.
Forno Nero
If you’re looking for authentic Italian pizza in a lively setting, head to Forno Nero in the heart of Faro. You’ll also find dishes like prawn linguini, jalapeños pizza, and the popular San Daniele Burrata with fresh rocket salad and creamy burrata—all of which you can watch being prepared in the open kitchen.
The restaurant itself features a welcoming bar area with live music playing, sure to delight any visitor, and with prices that are incredibly reasonable for the quality ($15 pizzas and $25 pasta dishes), it will impress the foodies too.
