If you’re like us, right now your pizza cravings demand one thing: the perfect slice. Because let’s face it, there’s nothing else quite like it. So we’re here to make sure you’re getting Novato’s best. Below, you’ll find our picks for the top pies in town, updated for 2025. We’ll be keeping this list fresh.
Extreme Pizza
$ | (415) 898-6575 | WEBSITE
I love Extreme Pizza so much I re-named my lunch break Extreme Pizza O’Clock. And every time I order from them, there’s something delicious that I hadn’t tried before. Like when I discovered that their Ghost Wave pizza with locally made hot sauce was completely customizable to my vegan preferences. I could go on about all the phenomenal options at this place, and how there’s truly just no wasted space at all.
It’s hard not to say the same about Extreme Pizza’s menu, where everything on it feels essential. Besides their amazing pizzas (including the Yard Sale and the unforgettable PAIA PIE), they also offer fresh salads that will keep your lunch satisfying. From vegan creations to meaty classics, all made with quality ingredients and attention to detail. If you’re (understandably) feeling hungry right now, order something from Extreme Pizza.
Mountain Mike’s Pizza
$$ | (415) 898-8800 | WEBSITE
My family used to own a sports bar. Like, seriously, Friday Night Lights-style. Thankfully the business was sold before I was born, so I didn’t experience growing up in one. But my dad did, and that’s who I watched Sunday football with for the first time. And he, a 48-year-old man, identified with the bar regulars even more than I did (an actual 21-year-old college student). Everything about this place is very nostalgic and makes me feel comfort-foody and satisfied.
Well, except for the slightly high prices. Either way, nothing goes better with that feeling than a slice of Mountain Mike’s pizza, some chicken wings, and a happy hour drink from the full bar.
Stefano’s Pizza
$$ | (415) 878-4959 | WEBSITE
Stefano’s Pizza is my favorite place to eat far, far too much, and forget about the concepts of time and space and moderation. But it also possesses the same straightforward charm that you’ll find in a perfect slice. Whenever I eat here, I spend most of my time savoring every bite of the chicken, bacon & pesto pizza and theorizing how something so simple can be so consistently satisfying.
And even if I can’t always make it in person, sitting at my kitchen table with a box of their pesto cheesy bread and a perfectly cooked, not-too-greasy pizza while watching the game is almost just as good. Just don’t touch my last slice of that pesto pizza, or else the story’s going to end with, “Me. At the counter. With the empty box.”
Boca Pizzeria
$$ | (415) 883-2302 | WEBSITE
There are some things in this world that have an immediate calming effect. In this case, though, I’m referring to the opening notes of ‘The Rainbow Connection’ played by Kermit the Frog at the beginning of The Muppet Movie—not anything that comes in gummy form.
The second I hear that banjo, I take a deep breath and know that for the next 97 minutes, I get to sit in a warm, content state and wonder things like, ‘But why a Studebaker?’ and ‘Was there really a market demand at the Bogen County Fair for dragonfly ripple ice cream?’ The Rigatoni with Italian sausage at Boca Pizzeria makes me feel similarly. It comes with braised kale and that mysterious truffle cream, and just the smell of the Pecorino Romano makes me feel f*ckng great.
However, a cheese pizza for dessert doesn’t seem like the worst idea either.
The Village Italian Restaurant
$$ | (415) 898-2234 | WEBSITE
You know what I want to do right now? I want to sit under a huge cathedral ceiling with those stout wooden beams overhead, sip a glass of their great wine, and savor every bite of that addictive garlic bread dipped in marinara. Yes, I want to be a pizza lover in Novato for an evening. This place makes me think of everything great about Italian comfort food – and like all great things in life, includes a cozy covered patio and soft lighting that creates the perfect warm vibe.
Unfortunately, I can’t dine there every night. So instead, I’ll settle for remembering their fantastic linguine al pesto with sausage over a potato-skin-style pizza appetizer and pretend to be a regular who drives from nearby areas – the pasta king of – well, my dining room – for the night.
Round Table Pizza
$ | (415) 897-2512 | WEBSITE
From the moment you walk into Round Table Pizza, it’s clear this isn’t your average pizza joint: the quality is as high as possible, with every slice cooked to crispy perfection. This is the kind of place I live for – one that makes me so satisfied I feel like I’m going to burst because I’m so invested in the flavors, even with the slightly higher prices (this is also why I’m a regular here).
Therefore, the best way to enjoy Round Table is with as little fuss as possible since there’s already a lot going on (like how can a pizza with artichoke be so good??). That’s why getting a King Arthur supreme for pickup is ideal – you can just hold the takeout box in one hand and mindlessly devour slices as you watch your kids play in the arcade.
THE VENUE by Ghiringhelli’s
$$ | (415) 878-4977 | WEBSITE
I’ve had the privilege of bringing a friend who thought they were just going to a regular pizza joint. They were expecting a straightforward meal, and it was deeply gratifying to watch their surprise as it slowly registered how versatile this spot is. And because most of THE VENUE’s appeal comes from its lively atmosphere, it goes perfectly with their delightful cocktails and live music. You can go full party-mode and enjoy salsa dancing or vintage clothing events.
Or take a cue from the owner Olympia and do a personalized switcheroo. Request decorations for your occasion and let the professional staff cater to your needs. What’s this place doing with such varied attractions? It doesn’t matter, just appreciate the surprise.
