That’s why we scoured the area to bring you this guide to our favorite Cleburne restaurants.

Parking can be tricky in the gravel lot and they get busy, especially on the big patio with corn hole games and family-friendly amenities, so plan accordingly.

Our Place Restaurant is the perfect spot to go when your usual breakfast routine is getting a tad too predictable. While they do serve sandwiches and soups, we recommend coming here for the breakfast classics. The space is diner-esque, so think cozy, bustling, familiar. For the true experience, let fate decide the outcome of your morning by ordering the Sampler to determine which breakfast favorite you’ll get.
Depending on your choice, that might be the chorizo omelette that’s to die for, or something comforting like the Texas waffle. If this sounds outside your comfort zone, the menu has plenty of listed items featuring delicious twists on old classics. Just don’t blame us if your California cheeseburger feels a bit ordinary compared to the Open Face Roast Beef on cornbread the person next to you is enjoying on Thursday.
Montes Breakfast Burritos

The drive-through convenience and the sight of those soft, homemade corn tortillas at Montes Breakfast Burritos make us want to grab a Texas burrito with BBQ sauce and hit the road with that special someone. Our morning ritual, it turns out, is picking up chorizo and egg burritos with a side of that spicy green salsa. The fact that the food is also exceptional is an added bonus. For breakfast, get the Texas burrito and a side of green salsa.
While the portions here would never be described as small, this is one place where two people should order a third burrito to share, because yes, they really are that good. Our favorites are the Texas burrito with BBQ sauce, the chorizo and egg, and the variety of fillings. There’s only one type of tortilla used, but that’s OK, because the homemade corn tortillas are hands-down the best in Cleburne.
Best Burger Barn

This Cleburne institution has been satisfying appetites for years and is still serving up top-notch burgers to the hungry families filling the comfortable booths. The double cheeseburger and specialty elk burger are non-negotiables, but the rotating daily specials, like the chicken fried steak with homemade gravy, deserve a special mention. Whatever you order, wash it down with your favorite BYOB beverage.
There will almost always be a friendly buzz at Best Burger Barn, but it’ll be most relaxed if you come during the mid-afternoon lull before the live music starts up.
Chick-fil-A

There’s a reason for that crowd in the parking lot. This popular, kid-friendly spot is a standout in Cleburne for fast food made with consistent quality. Our favorites are the grilled chicken nuggets, the grilled chicken sandwich now priced over $7, and the clean dining area. We’re suckers for a tidy space, and Chick-fil-A happens to be mostly dining room, with plenty of seating packed into the bright interior.
And while the service can be relatively slow, if you come here at a weird time (like, 2pm kind of weird) you won’t want to wait.
Los vaqueros mexican fast food

The only option at Los Vaqueros is the incredible, no-fuss $8.99 carne asada street tacos. And while it might sound like a nightmare to your picky friend who only eats buttered noodles, you’re never going to have a bad meal here. The menu stays consistent, but almost always starts with fresh chips and cucumbers from the salsa bar before moving on to some kind of carne asada nachos, a chimichanga and chili relleno combo plate, and refreshing horchata.
The restaurant is just one bright room with a few simple tables, and it’s the perfect place to come hungry when you’re in a hurry.
Grumps Burgers

Grumps Burgers is one of those rare spots that make us reevaluate everything we thought we knew about what constitutes a great burger joint. The menu is straightforward and features loads of classic comfort food (this is, after all, a Texas spot), and in the dining room, you just might hear murmurs of satisfaction as servers carry piping hot baskets of cheeseburgers out of the open kitchen.
Our favorites here are the delicious cheeseburger with its homemade-look patty and the surprisingly good patty melt, served on Texas toast instead of rye. If you only have time to visit one spot in Cleburne, make it this one. Just be sure to plan for a wait unless you’re going for a late lunch or (very) early dinner.
Taqueria Mexicano Grille Estilo Jalisco

Walking into Taqueria Mexicano Grille Estilo Jalisco from the Texas heat can feel like being submerged in a sensory oasis. And we mean that in a good way. The welcoming room is bright and lively, a perfect contrast to the quiet street outside. For starters, we’re into the hot made-to-order chips with fantastic salsa, both mild and spicy, and the delicious house horchata. Main dishes here are served like they’re trying to feed a small army, so depending on your appetite consider sharing.
The fajitas, jam packed with flavor and just spicy enough to keep you coming back for more, are a must.
IHOP

IHOP only serves breakfast all day. They make a limited number of their classic breakfast items every morning, and once they run out (and they sometimes run out) they switch to lunch options, usually at around 2:00pm. If you only serve breakfast around the clock, it better be good, and luckily IHOP’s is satisfying, with fluffy pancakes that support a sea of maple syrup and a humble layer of butter.
They also offer a variety of American comfort foods (also in limited quantities), like omelets with a hearty cheese center, deep-fried crispy hash browns, and French toast. The space is clean, owing to the restaurant’s reputation for fast service and, later, for friendly staff, and while there’s a good amount of seating indoors, if it’s too packed you can grab a spot in the parking lot outside, though nearby construction might limit availability.
Taco Casa

In a town full of chain restaurants, Taco Casa stands out as a spot for regulars. The menu is full of familiar fast-food favorites like tacos, bean burritos, and vegetarian options, but if you only have time for a single visit, get the bean burrito without sour cream, a simple dish with satisfying beans and cheese wrapped in a soft tortilla. The affordable, well-made tacos are also a standout.
You’re better off skipping dessert at most fast-food joints around Cleburne, but here, we refuse to leave without appreciating the friendly service and their accommodating approach to special requests.

Bare Barbecue fits right into Cleburne’s dining scene of 2025, as the steady stream of customers can attest, but it’s also a place to go when you want to remember what real Texas barbecue tastes like, before it became trendy and overcomplicated. Start with the Brisket Grilled Cheese and move onto the Tacos. Arguably the dish that puts this spot on the map, the grilled cheese, with its crispy burnt cheese on the tortilla and amazing brisket, should be on your table.
The friendly owner and great service make every visit feel like coming home to a backyard cookout, where the focus is on what matters most: perfectly smoked meat that speaks for itself.
San Miguel Mexican Grill

The servings here are generous, and the friendly service ensures your glass is never empty, so come hungry.
We love the crispy chicken fried steak with its perfect crunch, as well as the gordita packed with great flavor and the shrimp cocktail with perfectly cooked shrimp. The food here is comforting, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

For burgers, the classic cheeseburger is a standout, and the Magnum Burger has the well-deserved honor of being the most praised item on the otherwise varied menu. A visit is a must, especially for those looking for a great burger while enjoying the welcoming atmosphere and personable staff.
