12 Best Restaurants in Cleveland, OH [2026 Updated]

Cleveland locals might argue that nothing beats a pierogi from the West Side Market, but there are some seriously impressive spots across the city where you can savor world-class cuisine without leaving Ohio. So, this one is for the die-hard foodies and anyone else who appreciates a great meal as much as we do.

Savage Burger

Savage Burger

All of Savage Burger’s Cleveland locations stay packed for a reason (we’re talking lines out the door). The burger joint is consistently delicious, and crowd favorites like the smash burger and Cajun fries are good enough to justify the three trips you’ll make around the block to find parking. Thankfully, we can grab a drink at the counter, then hang out under the industrial-style lighting in the no-frills dining area until our order is ready.

Ice or rice cafe

$ | (216) 999-7388 | WEBSITE

Ice or rice cafe

The owner at Ice or Rice Cafe in Cleveland’s Asia-town greets every customer with a warm smile and an invitation to try the okonomiyaki. And we strongly recommend taking her advice because it’s some of the best Japanese pancake we’ve had, maybe ever. It’s hard to care much about the other dishes when the okonomiyaki is waiting, but their made-to-order items (which makes sense since this no-frills diner has that accessible, East Asia-like atmosphere) provide a worthwhile distraction.

Whether you opt for the generously portioned (and incredibly flavorful) curry chicken katsu or the hearty loco moco, these dishes go down easy with a blast of authentic taste. Or just skip the mains altogether and enjoy the massive portion of Rachel’s okonomiyaki with a cup of their house tea. Your call.

Panda Express

$ | (216) 661-1027 | WEBSITE

Panda Express

Whether lunch, dinner, or a quick bite, we can always count on Panda Express to deliver a meal that will brighten up our day. The bright fluorescent lighting seems a bit stark in the casual fast-casual setting, but we’ll go with it because this Asian-inspired spot knows how to keep things moving. And if the lighting doesn’t charm you, the generous samples of Honey chicken should win you over right away. The Teriyaki chicken is the best thing on the menu.

And while we love the fried rice on its own, when it’s paired with tofu, it’s like ‘meat and rice,’ who? Excuse us, what’s that?

Shake Shack Downtown Cleveland

$ | (216) 243-5023 | WEBSITE

Shake Shack Downtown Cleveland

Since this clean, fun eatery sits right downtown near Progressive Field and Jack’s Casino, it’s a convenient spot to grab a bite before hitting a Cavs or Guardians game. With a straightforward menu that ranges from juicy ShackBurgers to crispy Krinkle Cut Fries, Shake Shack comes through with steady, fast-service energy. We’re fans of the Mushroom and Beef stack burger—the savory beef balances perfectly with earthy mushrooms, and the bun is soft enough that we always finish every bite.

Even the chicken sandwich enthusiasts in your crew can get down with their Spicy Korean Chicken Sandwich, which comes with a side of those addictive fries that do a surprising job holding their own. And with neat games to play while waiting, families will love this pitstop, too.

Southern Tier Brewery Cleveland

$$ | (440) 484-4045 | WEBSITE

Southern Tier Brewery Cleveland

Southern Tier Brewery Cleveland has been a beer lover’s fixture for Cleveland locals for years, so the industrial-chic brewery signage with arrows pointing you toward the entrance is, for lack of better terms, unnecessary. And while they’re mainly known as a craft brewery and beer spot, a little culinary creativity spices up the menu with dishes like fish tacos and wood-fired pizza, which is our go-to order.

If savory mains aren’t your thing, the Praise the Haze hazy beer with its citrus notes is a win for hop enthusiasts everywhere. The mood of this lively place doesn’t emulate a quiet pub with a soundtrack of classic rock and sports commentary. But on a busy game day, the communal tables with a pint of their strawberry old fashioned made with homemade strawberry simple syrup is our preference.

Map of Thailand restaurant

$ | (216) 361-2220 | WEBSITE

Map of Thailand restaurant

Map of Thailand restaurant in Cleveland is as much of a culinary journey as it is a Thai eatery. The clean, well-lit dining room gives off distinct cozy vibes with friendly staff who greet you with smiles, and the reasonable prices clue you in that they’re supporting everything Thailand has to offer, from flavors to value.

There are plenty of Thai faves like standout Country Style Pad Thai, a rich Massaman curry, and khao soi that has some seriously tasty noodles and is perfect for the spice-curious (we enjoyed it as-is). The drunken noodles with shrimp were a little too generous with the shrimp, so safe to say it’s no street-food stall, but for a reliable Thai meal, Map of Thailand is a comfortable choice.

Dante’s Pizza

$ | (216) 251-0744 | WEBSITE

Dante

When we’re craving that perfect slice and all that, we head to Dante’s Pizza on Rocky River Dr., where we can grab a quick bite near the airport car rental drop-off under the glow of a sign that says ‘Pizza by the Slice.’ In that small eat-in area, the reliable takeaway spot sets the scene for an enjoyable pit stop with shared crispy fish fry baskets and generously portioned sides.

Friend groups can gather for takeout and throw back absolutely amazing wings, from Buffalo to barbecue, and monthly special pizzas (we don’t judge anyone for ordering extra slaw because it’s that good). All these good times should be credited to the tasty food because no matter your mood or who you’re with, you’ll find something, from classic pies to unique specials, to enjoy.

7-Entertainers Cafe & Lounge

$$ | (216) 268-2233 | WEBSITE

7-Entertainers Cafe & Lounge

7-Entertainers Cafe & Lounge might look like another casual spot in Cleveland. But beyond the straightforward parking lot and accessible entrance is a surprisingly polished dining experience with a crowd that’s always on point. The kitchen delivers all the expected quality—well-trained cooks, excellent food, and wonderful service.

But this place isn’t called 7-Entertainers for nothin’, so just get a damn good meal (the talent in the kitchen is evident, and it’s the most relaxed we’ve felt in a restaurant this year). We’re partial to the overall atmosphere, which comes with a pleasant vibe, chill energy, and a guarantee that you’ll want to stay awhile (can confirm). The visit isn’t complete without taking advantage of the lounge aspect that more than makes up for being a long-suffering Cleveland sports fan.

Parma Tavern

$ | (216) 635-1800 | WEBSITE

Parma Tavern

Pass by Parma Tavern on a Tuesday evening, and you might wonder where everyone is. But their Wednesday pizza special consistently draws a crowd, with regulars filling the booths and barstools as soon as the doors open. The menu sprawls across multiple pages and has all the tavern classics (don’t miss the Polish platter), including fantastic pizza specials like the $5 pizza Wednesdays. But we’re here for the chicken wings and the cabbage and noodles with that comforting, homestyle flavor.

And no night out with friends is complete without a cold beer and some lively conversation, and Parma Tavern delivers there, too. For around $25 per person, the amount of hearty food options and friendly, attentive service feels like a genuine neighborhood find.

Mooncat Boba Cafe

$ | (216) 331-6615 | WEBSITE

Mooncat Boba Cafe

Mooncat Boba Cafe is a solid pick when you want to unwind, sip something sweet, and not overthink it. The cozy atmosphere and anime soundtracks make it a comfortable choice for introverts or first-time boba drinkers looking for a quick escape. The menu leans into standout drinks like the Thai milk tea with traditional boba, the honeydew tea with star jelly, and the signature Moon Juice, which many find amazing. Snacks are satisfying, with crispy waffle fries and flavorful chicken and rice bowls.

Drinks are well-balanced, like the Tiger milk tea blending classic milk tea with Thai tea and chewy tapioca balls, sweet but not overwhelming. The vibe is casual, with a charm that’s more neighborhood hideaway than crowded chain. Mooncat Boba Cafe is also known for its reasonable prices.

Marble Room Sushi

$ | (216) 241-3200 | WEBSITE

Marble Room Sushi

With a small seating area tucked inside the Key Tower, a quick-service counter, and a limited weekday lunch window, Marble Room Sushi has potential to be a convenient downtown spot. But currently the only thing bringing people to this pick-up location is the fresh sushi (they also have a small seating area available). On busy days, we’re here mainly for the Key Tower Roll, which is filled with a well-balanced mix of crab, avocado, and cucumber.

The roll options, from the California Roll to the Key Tower Roll, don’t disappoint, but neither compare to the fresh simplicity of the sushi. But a decent portion size will tempt you to linger a little longer and imagine how much better Marble Room could be with expanded hours.

Taps & Tails

(216) 417-7384 | WEBSITE

Taps & Tails

Taps & Tails is Cleveland’s premier dog-friendly bar (in addition to the spacious indoor area, they have a large outdoor space for off-leash play). A bar and dog daycare isn’t a combination you find too often, so we love Taps & Tails for giving us a place to enjoy affordable drinks while our furry friends have supervised fun. But they also have a food menu and themed events that come through when we’re looking for celebrations and want to make it a memorable experience.

While you could visit just for the drinks, we suggest embracing the full concept and bringing your dog to enjoy the safe, controlled environment. Bark rangers aside, Taps & Tails keeps the vibe welcoming and relaxed with friendly, attentive staff who create an atmosphere worth driving from places like Toledo.
