Garland is not a Thai food destination, possibly because we seem to only realize we have authentic Thai cuisine when we’re craving something spicy (and that doesn’t happen enough). But if we ever do have a reason to seek out Thai flavors, Pinto Urban Thai Diner is a solid place to satisfy those cravings.
The restaurant has a simple, cozy setup with a quiet atmosphere, a menu with delicious chicken rice soup and other tasty Thai dishes, and there are iPads everywhere so you can customize your order no matter how busy it is. They also have generous portions of glass bean noodle pad thai, which gets 30% more satisfying after each bite you take.
Main Street Deli

With its warm, family-friendly atmosphere and inviting outdoor seating area, Main Street Deli is a great spot for Garland locals to enjoy Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors at reasonable prices. We love the Mediterranean Platter with its perfect blend of textures, but a lot of the food here has that comforting, homemade quality you’d expect from a neighborhood deli. And the owners are so genuinely friendly, you might find yourself chatting with them longer than planned.
But that’s part of the charm. Main Street Deli is a wonderful place to gather with family, enjoy a leisurely meal on the patio, and sample some delicious sandwiches like the Reuben or Philly cheese steak that are just perfection.

We hesitate to call Soulman’s a typical barbecue joint. It is a place that consistently serves generous portions of delicious smoked meats. So if you’re craving authentic Texas barbecue, check out their menu for the daily specials. If you do, this is a wonderful spot to enjoy a hearty meal. They have flavorful brisket, tender pulled pork with burnt ends, and classic sides, including a loaded baked potato that steals the show as the centerpiece of any plate.
Jack In The Box

This Garland fast-food joint might seem like just another drive-thru spot, but it has a convenient dining area, a busy drive-thru lane, Uber Eats delivery, and they maintain high standards for their food quality. The meals here are a level of freshness you wouldn’t expect from a quick-service restaurant off the highway, and the bacon double smashed jack combo is one of the area’s best. The burger comes out fresh, hot, and juicy.
And the curly fries are perfectly crispy and fresh, so all of the flavor comes through with each bite. While the loud morning music in the dining area could be toned down, the overall experience at this location hits the spot when you need something fast and satisfying.

But it’s also a great place to spend a busy evening with friendly, energetic staff who are ready to assist with menu selections. And if you have enough of their strong, delicious coffee here, you might actually start to think you’re inside a well-decorated, clean environment that feels like a remedy for the common cold. There are homemade ingredients in the beef chicken noodle soup, customers recommending the house noodles with the pho, and a lasting impression that makes it a must-visit spot for a tasty, satisfying meal.
El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant

This Vietnamese spot is one of the only casual bakeries in town where the prime freshness doesn’t come with incessant upcharges and $20 sandwiches whizzing by your head. The food here is what you want in a straightforward deli—they have good bahn mi and solid green jelly—but the best part of LEE’S is its wide-open flavor of juicy meats and crisp vegetables.
There are also a ton of affordable options, and if the place is busy, you can always grab a seat at the counter.
Năm Hứa

This Vietnamese spot in Garland isn’t your typical tired-looking strip mall restaurant. But it’s the best place to find authentic flavors (especially ones that come with plenty of meat and condiments). The dining room feels cozy with simple wooden tables, comfortable chairs, and servers carrying steaming bowls of pho back and forth. There’s a generous portion size to every dish that’s always satisfying, and more vegetarian and vegan options than most Vietnamese places scattered around the menu.
It’s also one of the very few restaurants in Garland serving such outstanding Vietnamese food, so it’s worth coming here to eat crispy rolls, amazing pho, and Cơm Đặc Biệt even if you’re not looking for a quick meal.
Sun Donuts

If a family bakery closed its eyes and made a wish to be in a cozy neighborhood, you’d get Sun Donuts. This place is casual bordering on homey, and it’s in a warm spot that feels like a local secret. There’s even a standout cinnamon roll that customers call ‘to die for.’
Sushi Go

Garland is home to some solid sushi spots, and Sushi Go stands out as a true gem in the neighborhood.
