Greenport Harbor Brewing Company
$ | (631) 477-6681 | WEBSITE
At Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, you won’t be overcharged for craft beer that hasn’t seen the outside of a fermenter in weeks. Like the best local breweries, it has a similar commitment to highlighting their own brews. They call their menu brewery-inspired, and the best stuff on it used to be hops. The milk stout and Black Duck Porter are both excellent. There’s a spacious tasting room with large windows.
And inside, the soft glow of natural light, displayed artwork for sale, and friendly staff make it a great hangout spot as well.
Claudio’s Waterfront
$$ | (631) 477-0627 | WEBSITE
Claudio’s Waterfront is a spot with a very long history thanks to its original location in Greenport, where people have been returning for nearly 60 years. The wait for a table in peak summer is considerably less miserable (there may not even be a wait on a slow weekday), but the lobster roll is still unreal.
They serve only one style of waterfront dining here—which should be plenty for any visitor—and it feels like a classic seafood joint and a modern summer destination had a baby, and then that baby got its master’s degree in atmosphere. If you just hate waiting any amount of time for your meal, you can usually walk right in at opening when they start serving lunch.
Drossos Motel
$$ | (631) 477-1334 | WEBSITE
Not unlike budget motels or roadside attractions dotting the Long Island landscape, Greenport is absolutely saturated with cozy stays. But none of them do it better than the area’s original family-run motel: Drossos Motel. And this institution is still one of Greenport’s best places to relax and spend just the right amount of money on clean rooms and dangerously delicious burgers.
Drossos Motel is a reminder of how Greenport used to do family-friendly getaways, back when reservations had to be made over the phone and families played mini-golf in the same courtyard as couples. Luckily, this place still holds up—not just because of the vibe, but because it’s one of Greenport’s best stays.
Greenport Distilling @ One Woman Winery
$$ | (631) 765-1200 | WEBSITE
Greenport Distilling @ One Woman Winery is a rustic, laid-back spot off the beaten path that serves German-style white wines in a casual setting. This place works great for tons of occasions. You can have a full tasting flight or a quick glass after exploring the North Fork without ruining your appetite for dinner. From opening until 5pm, all the wines on their tasting menu are under $15, and you can get a cheese plate for $12 or charcuterie for $18.
It’s also a great choice for a family picnic, where you can spread out on the shaded outdoor seating and watch the vineyard while the kids play. Sit at the picnic tables and watch the staff pour flights of Sauvignon Blanc and other selections. The place is rustic and shaded enough to pretend you’re in a countryside retreat.
Anker
$$$ | (631) 477-1300 | WEBSITE
Anker is a waterfront restaurant in Greenport offering indoor brunch seating with a view of the bay. The space has a nice, somewhat casual ambiance that really makes the most of its location. Now, it’s got a rooftop bar that provides fast and friendly service as well as some lovely balcony seating upstairs to enjoy sunset views over the water.
It’s the kind of restaurant great for a leisurely meal after a day exploring the North Fork, or any occasion when you want fresh seafood and a cocktail in a space that feels special, but not overly formal. While we like the mussels main dish for its generous portion and reasonable price, the best dishes we’ve tried have been from other parts of the menu, like the $28 fish charcuterie board or the yummy seafood and meats paella.
Green Hill Kitchen & Que
$$ | (631) 477-4900 | WEBSITE
Greenport has its share of hit-or-miss dining spots, but you can count Green Hill Kitchen & Que among the definite hits. Like any proper BBQ joint, they’ve got incredible brisket, ribs, and sausage that are seasoned and sauced just right. But there are also more surprising options like the Impossible Smash Burger and unexpectedly good cauliflower nuggets for vegetarians. That includes delicious Mexican grilled corn and macaroni & cheese that could use a touch more seasoning.
This place is lively enough for a family dinner with kid-friendly options, yet satisfying enough for a casual meal with friends after a long day. The friendly staff creates a great experience, though service can slow down during busy times like Mother’s Day. While the chairs aren’t the most comfortable, the portions are decent—often leaving you with leftovers—and the overall vibe makes it perfect for a satisfying meal at a reasonable price.
Demarchelier Bistro
$$ | (631) 593-1650 | WEBSITE
The cuisine at this hidden French gem in Greenport surpasses the type of pretentious bistros that expect you to arrive looking like you’re attending a gala at the Met. Demarchelier reminds us of the finest restaurants in Paris, where chefs welcome you with impeccable service and bid you farewell after presenting escargot and lamb shanks you’ll savor for years. Visit for dinner but return for lunch and, ultimately, the multi-course tasting experience.
It features the most tender roast chicken and concludes with a light, airy chocolate mousse.
Noah’s
$$$ | (631) 477-6720 | WEBSITE
Noah’s is a renowned restaurant in Greenport that’s a perfect choice for a fun night out—especially if it’s a nice evening since the outdoor patio is where you want to be dining. The small plates include excellent filet mignon sliders and other shareable appetizers. The beverage selection has more good options, like the refreshing peach jalapeno margarita and diverse wines. But the overall experience here is delightful too, especially with the attentive service and enjoyable atmosphere.
The restaurant’s commitment to catering to various dietary requirements has earned it a loyal following.
Amazing Flavors
$ | (631) 477-5042 | WEBSITE
This sweet spot is one of the best options in Greenport Village when you’re looking for something charming that won’t require breaking the bank, which is a rare find for this area. But Amazing Flavors is vintage enough to remind you that you are, in fact, in historic Greenport, and the spacious outdoor seating is about as close as you want to get to enjoying the village atmosphere.
They have some treats like excellent hot chocolate with a gourmet touch, but you’re coming here for the brownies (and possibly some Hershey’s ice cream). The $6 fresh, soft, and moist brownie is a pretty good deal considering this is the same place where you can enjoy the merry-go-round and arcade games (do, by the way).
The Frisky Oyster
$$$ | (631) 477-4265 | WEBSITE
This seafood spot in Greenport has a beautiful space that’s fitting for the sort of creative dishes you’ll eat here. Those dishes, like crispy calamari salad and Oysters Friskafeller, are moderately priced and photogenic—but also delicious. There are a lot of phenomenal seafood-focused things on the menu, but you’ll also find impressive proteins, like a Wagyu Tomahawk steak that looks so perfect it could be a movie prop.
Crazy Beans
$ | (631) 333-2436 | WEBSITE
Crazy Beans is a neighborhood breakfast spot in Greenport. And it’s very worth weaving through the morning crowd of locals and weekend visitors. The space—a cozy interior with lots of wood and chalkboard menus—has a snug feel featuring exposed brick and vintage coffee tins on the shelves. In other words: exactly the kind of spot where you can spend a couple hours grazing on brunch plates and sipping lattes.
They have a selection of customizable lattes, ranging from vanilla to caramel and hazelnut. The food menu is mostly breakfast classics, like omelettes and chicken and waffles—but there are also heartier options like the Juicy Lucy burger. Whether you come to eat or drink (or, ideally, both) this is the reservation to make next time you need a fresh breakfast experience.
Brick Oven La Capricciosa Pizza
$$ | (631) 477-1625 | WEBSITE
Brick Oven La Capricciosa Pizza is one of the best places to eat pizza in Greenport—but there are more delicious things on the menu. Brick oven pizza should be part of your meal here, but so should a couple of other classics, which will help you get full without spending a lot of money on slices. Go for the excellent chicken Parmesan sandwich or the fresh Greek salad with homemade house dressing.
But the best thing about Brick Oven La Capricciosa Pizza—and the reason we don’t panic at the sight of their overwhelmingly large topping selection—is that everything is excellent. Plus, the restaurant is appropriate for a simple dinner, but also casual enough to walk in wearing a t-shirt and sit at a table for a quick bite.
Rinconcito Hispano
$ | (631) 477-9502 | WEBSITE
Rinconcito Hispano is the kind of authentic Latin American spot that makes people want to explore Greenport’s dining scene, and it remains one of the area’s more reliable places for a satisfying meal with flavors everyone can appreciate. Come for lunch that involves generous plates of traditional Spanish dishes, hearty stews, and rice specialties. For dinner, there’s usually a paella situation we thoroughly enjoy, grilled meats, empanadas, and slow-cooked pork shoulder.
It’s a safe bet for casual gatherings, dinner with friends who appreciate real food, and really any other occasion when you need a restaurant that is genuine but not pretentiously fancy.
Olive Branch Restaurant & Bar
$$ | (631) 333-2444 | WEBSITE
Olive Branch feels like dining in your Turkish grandmother’s cozy kitchen with warm lighting and rustic wooden tables. You can’t help but feel completely at home when you settle in. You can spend a pretty penny here but thankfully the menu’s highlights are the (reasonably) priced classics like the lamb chops that hug you gently with flavor.
