Greenville, NC might not be the first place you think of for culinary excellence, but that’s exactly why you need this list. Whether you’re a student craving comfort, a local seeking something new, or just passing through, finding truly great food here can feel like a quest. That said, the gems are waiting. From smoky barbecue joints to innovative farm-to-table spots to cozy international cafes, here are 18 places that define delicious dining in 2025.
Atavola Market Cafe
$ | (252) 321-5533 | WEBSITE
Atavola Market Cafe is one of our favorite Italian spots in Greenville, but don’t overlook the other items on their menu, either. From lasagna to a seafood dip to one of the best pasta dishes in town, building a full meal around their Italian classics (get the lasagna with salad and bread) is a requirement, not a suggestion. The cozy atmosphere gets you a great dining experience, or you can always enjoy the open kitchen.
Red Lobster
$$ | (252) 756-4000 | WEBSITE
You’ve been navigating the holiday rush with three kids under ten, and right now, true comfort means sitting down to a meal where someone else does the cooking and cleaning. Consider Red Lobster. The classic seafood restaurant in Greenville (with limited parking on the sides of the building) serves our favorite biscuits in town, including fresh-baked cheddar bay biscuits that are so good you’ll keep eating them far after the main course arrives.
The food comes quickly and hot, with friendly service from staff like Lauren, who was sweet and bubbly. We enjoyed tender scallops packed with flavor and delicious steamed crab legs, plus the Main Deck margarita flight for a refreshing twist. The inside has been refurbished, though some areas could use updates—like peeling walls and dusty booths. It’s a place that holds special memories for some, even proposals. Both dine-in and takeout are available.
First Class Bistro
$ | (252) 375-4275 | WEBSITE
First Class Bistro is basically the homey version of your favorite diner. It’s the kind of spot you hit up solo for a quick breakfast, then return the next morning with your whole crew. But since you’re probably rushing to catch a flight, grabbing takeout from this breakfast-and-lunch joint is the perfect solution. Right now, their entire homestyle menu is available for takeout, which means all the cheese eggs and bacon croissants your hungry heart desires.
Tip: Be sure to throw in one of their burgers as well, they’re excellent.
Q Sushi
$$ | (252) 364-2064 | WEBSITE
Q Sushi is a reliable Asian restaurant in Greenville, and a great way to say ‘I’m sorry’ for forgetting your anniversary last month. The entire menu is available for all-you-can-eat dining, in addition to hibachi items and a kids’ menu for those who prefer cooked options. Your spouse already forgives you.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews
$ | (252) 558-4308 | WEBSITE
Sure, it’s family night, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t in the mood for some classic American comfort. Head over to Red Robin. The popular spot in Greenville has a fantastic menu that delivers consistently delicious burgers and brews. Think juicy patties, endless crispy fries, and one of our favorite family-friendly atmospheres in town. Both dine-in and takeout are available through most apps, with friendly servers keeping the Lego-themed space clean and welcoming.
Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant · Greenville
$ | (252) 321-8008 | WEBSITE
Someday soon we hope to enjoy a full evening inside Plaza Azteca’s lively and colorful dining room, but for now, takeout continues to more than satisfy. This excellent Mexican restaurant offers a menu filled with authentic favorites, yet almost everything tastes fresh and vibrant in a way that stands out in Greenville. The fajitas for two and burria tacos are standouts, but make sure the tacos al pastor and California burrito are on your order as well. Carry-out only, call (252) 555-0123.
Nino’s Cucina Italiana
$$ | (252) 689-6446 | WEBSITE
If you know one thing about your husband, it’s that all he needs is some rigatoni and a glass of red wine to be content. You, on the other hand, just need a lemon cello cake. Sounds like Nino’s Cucina Italiana is your solution this evening. The upscale Italian spot in Greenville is that rare restaurant that’s figured out how to do everything well – delicious food, perfect service, and prices that feel reasonable for the quality.
They’re offering both indoor and outdoor seating at the moment, but if you want one of their famous rigatoni al vodka dishes (which you do), you’ll want to dine in. Ask for Carmen when you visit.
Cucinella’s Midtown
$ | (252) 751-0411 | WEBSITE
Not to be confused with the other pizza places around town, Cucinella’s Midtown is a neighborhood spot that’s definitely worth driving out of the way for. It offers some of the best pizzas in the area, but if you’re trying to pull off a quick and satisfying meal, make it easy on yourself, and just get the New York Style pizza. For about $25, it comes with a perfectly crisp crust, generous toppings, and that fantastic flavor everyone raves about.
And let’s be honest, if a side of those super cheesy knots with chilled marinara sauce doesn’t get you excited, nothing will. The inside seating is really nice, with friendly staff that treats you right, making it a great spot to grab a bite at a great price.
Sakura Asian Express
$ | (252) 321-3088 | WEBSITE
Sakura Asian Express is a fantastic Asian restaurant in Greenville that comes from the same friendly team behind another of our favorite local spots – the welcoming mom-and-pop feel shines through. There’s a satisfying menu filled with Thai classics, noodle dishes, and comforting soups (the pad Thai and curry chicken soup are standouts) – all things you want on the table when the craving hits for something flavorful. Bonus: Most entrees hover around the $12-$16 mark, offering great value.
Available for quick takeout.
Pitt Street Brewing Company
$$ | (252) 227-4151 | WEBSITE
Let’s start with the bad news – that big holiday party you were hoping to host clearly didn’t come together. The good news? You can absolutely make up for it by heading over to Pitt Street Brewing Company. The Greenville spot has a diverse, welcoming atmosphere that features everything from trivia nights to local artist showcases, and it’s all very enjoyable. Throw in a few of their outstanding beers or a blueberry seltzer and you’ll be celebrating with new friends in no time.
Available for gatherings in the back room with helpful staff setting up, or just drop by for their regular events.
Osaka Sushi & Hibachi
$ | (252) 757-1818 | WEBSITE
A hectic week and craving something comforting might not be the ideal pairing, but do you know what is? Sushi and hibachi. And that’s why you should head to Osaka Sushi & Hibachi when you need a reliable escape. This Greenville Japanese spot delivers excellent food across-the-board, plus generous portions at reasonable prices. The all-you-can-eat buffet is available, but if you sit at the sushi bar and order directly, you’ll get the freshest cuts made right before your eyes.
Fuji Japan Steakhouse & Sushi
$ | (252) 353-4848 | WEBSITE
Japanese steakhouse might seem like an obvious choice for family dinner, but so is seeking comfort in familiar flavors, so just embrace it. The reliable spot near Walmart is offering their full menu for both dine-in and takeout, and while you can order any dish separately, we recommend the hibachi cooked Chicken and Shrimp.
It’s a generous plate loaded with tender chicken, plump shrimp, and a mountain of vegetables like zucchini, onions, broccoli, and mushrooms, all topped with that famous white sauce. At around $18, it’s also a tremendous value, often providing two meals from one plate. The clean dining area with its casual counter-service section and more formal seating caters to different moods, and the owner’s presence ensures each visit feels welcoming.
Sure, parking can be tight and lines sometimes stretch out the door, but the wait is worth it for those caramelized carrots alone.
7 Brew Coffee
$ | (479) 358-9274 | WEBSITE
If you’re anything like us, coffee is always a go-to morning move. And while drive-thru drinks admittedly lose a bit of their charm, one place where the quality never dips is 7 Brew Coffee. The popular Greenville coffee spot is offering tremendous $5 large drinks, as well as $4 kid-sized smoothies. That’s an incredible value for a place where the service stays friendly and the wait flies by.
Of course, if you do want to go the creamy route, their Caramel Macchiato gets you that perfect balance—neither too sweet nor too strong—for around $6. Visit their two-lane drive-thru or stop inside. Quick service only.
Refresh Nutrition
$ | (252) 714-9814 | WEBSITE
Looking for a healthy pick-me-up that won’t weigh you down? Head straight to Refresh Nutrition. The beloved spot is now serving up its famous protein shakes and Mega Teas in Greenville, NC, and continues to deliver the same energizing drinks that built their reputation. You can grab a single shake or tea for around $7, or try one of their weekly specials for a new flavor adventure, but considering how filling they are, we’ll let you decide what works for your appetite.
Available for both takeout and in-store enjoyment.
Ninja Hibachi Express
$ | (252) 364-8775 | WEBSITE
Everybody knows that quick-service spots are the best kind of lunch break, but since no one has hours to spare in Greenville these days, we recommend something efficient like Ninja Hibachi Express. The reliable hibachi restaurant on the east side has totally perfected their system to include speedy bowl options (including kid-friendly versions) that start at just $8 (they top out at $15, btw).
The bulgogi bowl arrives in under six minutes, the chicken nugget bowl is a consistent hit, and the MCP roll makes for a satisfying grab-and-go meal. Call ahead or just walk up to the window—the friendly staff there will have your order ready before you know it.
La Rancherita Grill & Tequila Bar of Greenville
$ | (252) 420-8420 | WEBSITE
La Rancherita Grill & Tequila Bar is a popular Mexican spot in Greenville, and though the portions are so huge you might need a to-go box, the food is so good you don’t mind. The menu is packed with options, so we recommend coming in with a solid plan of ordering the choripollo chicken, the unbeatable ultimate ACP, and any of their amazing tequila drinks. That said, if something else also catches your eye, it’s probably going to be delicious, too. Available for both dine-in and takeout.
Logan’s Roadhouse
$ | (252) 439-4313 | WEBSITE
Blame the holidays if you want, but the fact is ribs will always be the most satisfying dish to order with family. So lean into it and head to Logan’s Roadhouse. The Greenville restaurant makes some of our favorite ribs in the city (and maybe anywhere), and the entire menu caters to families with kid-friendly options. We’re not saying you have to share the coloring sheets thing, but it’d be rewarding for everyone if you did.
Five Guys
$ | (252) 364-2838 | WEBSITE
Five Guys is one of our favorite burger joints in Greenville, and they’re currently offering a dine-in and takeout menu that’s still packed with all their most iconic items. You can order burgers, fries, and drinks separately if you want, but our move is to go for the classic combo (a cheeseburger, a large fries, and a drink for about $22 per person), and throw in an extra order of lightly seasoned fries on top.
