A decade back, finding a memorable meal in Miami Beach meant dressing for dinner and paying for the privilege. Today, the scene has democratized—you can savor world-class flavors without the pretense or the prix fixe. Whether you’re celebrating or simply craving something spectacular, here are the spots where the food, not the fuss, takes center stage.
Local House
$$ | (305) 538-5529 | WEBSITE
At Local House, all the cocktails are expertly crafted, and the rooftop lounge comes with a pool. If that sounds luxurious, that’s because it is. But the pool also makes for a pretty stunning backdrop, and it’s fun to relax in a spot that feels like a little oasis of well-being. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and there aren’t many places like it, but it’s a good spot to impress someone who appreciates quality food and drinks near the beach.
De Lucia Bakery Buon Pane Italiano
$ | (786) 793-7976 | WEBSITE
De Lucia Bakery Buon Pane Italiano is a charming Italian bakery just minutes from Ocean Drive that specializes in authentic Italian breads and the sort of pastries you want to enjoy alongside them (ciabatta, croissants, chocolate brioches, puff pastries, etc.). The Italian pastry selection here is extensive, but if that isn’t your thing, they also have excellent savory options like pizza and other salty treats.
Aura on Lincoln
$$ | (305) 695-8898 | WEBSITE
If you’re in South Beach looking for a meal, try Aura on Lincoln. It’s a cozy spot with chill lighting and walls with warm tones, and it kind of feels like it should be bustling. It’s perfect for a low-key dinner on a weeknight, and it gets pretty lively (with hookah) on weekends. Get the fettuccine Alfredo and share it with someone while you relax. That’s called a good time.
Chotu Indian Street Food
$ | (786) 309-1238 | WEBSITE
Chotu Indian Street Food is one of the top Indian street food spots in Miami Beach, although it isn’t the sort of place where you need to dress up or plan your visit weeks ahead. Mostly, it’s just a food hall counter that happens to have some very flavorful dishes, and it’s great for when you get tired of predictable takeout and long for something more exciting.
It’s a compact stall within The Lincoln Eatery, and it can get busy quickly, but if you arrive early, you can usually find a spot at one of the shared tables.
Moshi Moshi Miami Beach
$$ | (844) 466-6744 | WEBSITE
The sushi bars in South Beach are a bit more upscale, but Moshi Moshi is very useful when you need a relaxed spot for late-night dining with friends in the area. It’s a cozy space with warm lighting and a few high-top tables, and they make some excellent specialty dishes. Get here early to secure a booth, and be aware that this place gets very popular on the weekend.
Ole Ole Steak House
$$$ | (305) 763-8059 | WEBSITE
You could walk by Ole Ole Steak House several thousand times and never realize it was there. And that’s part of why we like this place. It’s a semi-hidden steakhouse in Miami Beach filled with colorful decor and lively music, and it’s a good spot for when you need to impress someone who might one day share a meal at your table. Come on a weeknight and it should be pretty mellow (on the weekends it gets a bit more crowded).
Taiwan Ice
$ | (305) 749-6601 | WEBSITE
We once tried the taro slush here. We wouldn’t recommend it—but we respect the fact that they offer unique flavors, and our other drinks like the taro milk tea have been perfectly refreshing. Mostly, we like this place because it’s a peaceful spot with plenty of seating where you can hang out with a small group or just relax after a long day. There are also delicious treats like the black sesame snow cream with fresh mangos and strawberries for when you need something sweet and satisfying.
Bleau Bar
$$$ | (305) 674-4760 | WEBSITE
Bleau Bar is a stylish cocktail lounge in the legendary Fontainebleau Hotel, and they serve drinks with a VIP treatment that goes above and beyond. We especially like the Aztec Old Fashioned that comes strong and charismatic – although whatever you order, you’ll probably want several rounds of it. To help you drink more, there’s that fabulous atmosphere in the heart of the lobby, perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or a night out.
And if you appreciate top-notch service, there are excellent bartenders who make every espresso martini equally delicious, too.
Azabu Miami Beach
$$$$ | (786) 276-0520 | WEBSITE
Suggest Azabu Miami Beach for dinner, and people might think you’re planning a special occasion. That’s the kind of vibe this place gives off. It’s elegant and dimly lit with warm lighting that still lets you read the menu, and the upscale atmosphere might make you want to plan your next vacation with your dining companion. That said, it works just as well for a memorable meal with friends, and you can get outstanding cocktails and drinks in addition to the fantastic food.
Cafe Bonjour
$ | (305) 640-5468 | WEBSITE
Cafe Bonjour is a South Beach staple that we probably mention more than we should. But if you’re craving a well-crafted açaí bowl and a cheerful beachside vibe, it’s one of your top choices. It feels a bit like a cozy coastal cottage run by a surfer who’s married to a pastry chef, and it’s exactly the kind of spot you wish was just around the corner from your place.
High Tide
$$ | (305) 604-1800 | WEBSITE
Some afternoons, you might dream about a beachside spot with big windows and casual stools where you can sit down and order a chilled cocktail at 4pm. Well, good news: that place exists, and it’s called High Tide. This is a relaxed restaurant near the boardwalk that feels like a cross between a breezy pool lounge and something you’d find steps from the ocean, and it’s a great beachside spot to hang out and make new friends.
Nettuno Oysters & Seafood
$$$ | (305) 397-8293 | WEBSITE
If you need a special seafood meal in Miami Beach, come here. The space isn’t huge, but there’s a warm atmosphere and charming details that are perfect for enjoying a memorable dinner. There’s also a knowledgeable staff up front serving fantastic dishes like gnocchi with lobster and crab cakes, all prepared with attentive care.
Nobu Miami
$$$$ | (305) 695-3232 | WEBSITE
Nobu Miami is very much a destination restaurant, but they take their Japanese-Peruvian fusion very seriously here. By which we mean, they serve standout dishes like the flavorful wagyu dumplings that you’ll actually want to order again. Although if you just want to stick to one main dish and share a side to keep costs down, you can do that, too. The next time you’re in Miami Beach and afterwards need a place with perfect service and great cocktails, come here.
Say Tea & Smile
$$ | (786) 988-3079 | WEBSITE
Say Tea & Smile is in Coral Gables, and it’s a nice, casual spot to get a good boba tea. Sure, they have a variety of delicious options – but they’re all pretty tasty. (The Black Sugar Milk Tea with cheese foam is a standout.) The place itself isn’t huge, but there’s a large selection of milk teas, and whoever you’re drinking with will probably appreciate the fact that the classic milk tea with honey is a favorite among Taiwanese milk tea enthusiasts.
Essensia at The Palms Hotel & Spa
$$$ | (305) 908-5458 | WEBSITE
Essensia is equal parts restaurant and spa. But after sunset, it’s mostly just a restaurant. The menu is diverse, and they do some interesting things with local ingredients. So if you’re a jungle curry fan, this is the place. Or if you like shrimp ceviche with Tiger milk, they have that, too. This place tends to stay pretty peaceful, but it never gets too quiet, and you can usually find a garden seat or two.
Preston’s Market
$$$ | (305) 604-5442 | WEBSITE
The breakfast at Preston’s Market is also hotel-elegant, and it’s as good as it gets. If you’ve never had salmon Benedict before, order it here. It’s like eggs Benedict, but for people who want something beyond the ordinary. This is a nice little coastal spot inside the Loews hotel, and it doesn’t get too crowded in the mornings. Also, the tables are comfortable (and very spacious), and there’s a buffet that looks amazing in the back.
Dumpling King
$ | (305) 654-4008 | WEBSITE
We’re going to go out on a limb and assume that Dumpling King is run by the same folks behind some of the city’s best dumpling spots because a) their Shanghai soup dumplings are consistently perfect, and b) they have that same friendly, no‑fuss vibe. This is also the sort of place where you can order boba tea and not feel out of place. They’ll happily suggest a drink to pair with your meal, and you can safely bring either a group of friends or just stop in solo for a quick, satisfying bite.
Kalamata Mediterranean Cuisine
$$ | (786) 953-4662 | WEBSITE
Miami Beach has a lot of things going for it (like beautiful beaches and art deco architecture), but you probably don’t go out of your way to eat Turkish food there. If you do find yourself in the area and you want a great place for some authentic Mediterranean cuisine, head directly to Kalamata. It’s a cozy spot decorated like the dining room of a very welcoming Turkish home, and it’s just about the exact opposite of the typical flashy South Beach restaurant scene.
