For many Monett residents, Highway 60 is just a thoroughfare—a stretch of asphalt connecting Springfield to Joplin, dotted with truck stops and farm supply stores. But tucked between the railroad tracks and the town square, you’ll find an unexpected culinary oasis. While bigger cities boast their foodie districts, Monett has quietly cultivated its own remarkable dining scene. These 17 spots prove why locals never need to leave town for a great meal.
Omarios
$ | (417) 669-3463 | WEBSITE
If you think that authentic Mexican street food from a humble truck is one of life’s great discoveries, then you need to know about Omarios. This unassuming food truck now permanently parks in Monett, serving up flavors that transport you south of the border. Omarios’ menu is straightforward—there are just a few standout items like loaded nachos, steak burritos, and shrimp tacos, plus some surprising Chicago-style classics. The food is bold, but still has enough balance to remain satisfying.
It’s appropriately hearty and seasoned with vibrant spices or fresh toppings. We couldn’t imagine a better thing to pair with their refreshing horchata—the perfect counterpoint to the rich, savory dishes.
Liza’s Filipino Cuisine
$ | (479) 561-0174 | WEBSITE
Not to be confused with the food court options at Monett Pavilion or the typical farmer’s market fare, this Filipino stall stands on its own. The restaurant used to operate only during market days, and regulars demanded it stay open more often. So don’t be surprised when you see folks eating egg rolls here. But we’re fans of their rice dishes—especially the one with the perfectly seasoned veggies. If all vegetables tasted this good, we’d be grazing the produce section daily.
The egg rolls are generous, only about $4 each, and come with a tangy dipping sauce. They also have a stellar flavored lemonade that’s refreshing, balanced, and sweetened just right. Liza’s is great for a quick lunch or a casual snack. Service is warm but efficient, and there’s a simple counter setup with a few shaded tables nearby.
MO Wings
$ | (417) 489-1808 | WEBSITE
There are plenty of wing joints in Monett. Most of them serve up the usual buffalo wings with celery sticks and blue cheese. But MO Wings has a menu that goes beyond the basics, offering Thai chili wings and cashew chicken alongside their classic buffalo varieties. What really sets this place apart is the quality of their boneless wings—they’re incredibly moist and tender, with perfectly crunchy breading that holds up to any sauce.
We like the generous wing sizes and the variety of sauces, from mild buffalo to honey BBQ and Cajun. It’s the only spot we know of that combines such fresh, flavorful wings with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. And yes, they have MO Wings’ very good Sidewinders at this location too.
Angus Branch Steakhouse
$ | (417) 235-3350 | WEBSITE
If you are tired of the overpriced steakhouses that have popped up everywhere, Angus Branch will feel like a relief. Its welcoming atmosphere has been drawing crowds in Monett for years, and people have been filling their plates at the buffet before settling into the comfortable booths ever since. This is not fine dining—the noise level is moderate—but the salad bar still has those fresh greens and perfectly boiled eggs that make you want seconds.
This place also offers special requests in case you want something customized. But it’s going to taste better if you enjoy it hot and fresh at one of the tables while you appreciate that a satisfying meal doesn’t have to break the bank.
Jami Lynn’s Catering & Dinners-To-Go
$ | (417) 772-7211 | WEBSITE
Jami Lynn’s is a rare trifecta for a Monett comfort food spot: affordable, consistent, and kind. But you need to get there early or you’ll miss the best daily specials. And it is worth planning ahead for their home-cooked meals and generous portions, like the $15 family dinner that comes with a main, two sides, fresh bread, and makes you feel like the most cared-for neighbor on the block. Orders are packed efficiently, so the line moves fast.
And if you’re stopping by after a long haul or a tough day, get the daily upgrade surprise. It’s an unexpected addition of an extra side or dessert that shows Jami Lynn’s heart for just under $5 more.
Little Caesars Pizza
$ | (417) 235-6000 | WEBSITE
Little Caesars Pizza is a Monett staple. Since opening, this spot has been a reliable choice for quick lunches and family pickups. It’s known for its solid pizza, featuring hot pies, popular breadsticks, and consistent quality that’s available daily. But you should plan a return for their service. The staff ensures orders are accurate and customers are satisfied, with co-managers going above and beyond to resolve any issues.
The restaurant is open and accommodating, with straightforward seating that’s perfect for grabbing a meal on the go and a simple, functional layout that keeps things moving.
Big Baldy’s Bac-Woods Bar-B-Q
$ | (417) 235-6595 | WEBSITE
Big Baldy’s is a family barbecue joint with great food and friendly staff. This place feels like a 1990s time capsule—when family restaurants were cool, decorated with western memorabilia, and featured giant aquariums. This is not an insult. We miss those simpler times. Quality barbecue plates were $18, the ribs were having a moment, and so were those 300-gallon fish tanks for some reason. You can find all of those things (except the fish) here.
Our favorite thing on the menu is the ribs—served with beans and coleslaw, generous portions, and that cozy atmosphere. It’s also got a great family vibe that runs all day every day.
Dairy Queen Grill & Chill
$ | (417) 235-7188 | WEBSITE
This Monett burger spot is known for one thing: the non-greasy hamburger. It’s a well-cooked patty with one giant side of hot onion rings. It’s why people come here—a pile of rings so crispy and golden they make you question if there really is a burger under all those onion loops. But it’s there, fresh, and layered with all the classic toppings. Some people like to dunk everything in ketchup, but these are not delicate rings.
They’re thick and crunchy so you can grab them with your fingers and eat them together with your burger. Dairy Queen Grill & Chill also might have the absolute best retro booths in Monett too.
Arby’s
$ | (417) 235-5516 | WEBSITE
This reliable fast-food spot has been serving Monett for years, and it’s clear the commitment to cleanliness and service has been consistent too. It’s a solid choice if you’re looking for perfectly prepared classic sandwiches. Our favorite is the roast beef. It has tender, thinly sliced beef and the ideal ratio of meat, cheese, and Arby’s sauce. If you finish the large combo in one sitting, you should consider trying out for a competitive eating contest.
If roast beef isn’t your thing, you can create your own meal by choosing from their variety of meats and sides. Prices are pretty reasonable. Those combos start around $9, and the classic roast beef sandwich is just under $5. It’s not the fanciest dining experience in Monett. But it’s a clean and comfortable spot that’s great for a quick, satisfying meal with the family, and the staff like April make sure everyone feels welcome.
Lai Lai Asian Buffet and Dining
$ | (417) 235-3568 | WEBSITE
Lai Lai has been a Chinese buffet destination for years. Sure, Americanized Chinese food is a pretty specific craving, and that’s what this place is known for. But every form of buffet item, including the crispy crab rangoons, are good enough to make us forgive the slightly cramped dining room layout. Cozy Asian spots like this are hard to come by in Monett, but this holdout still has a steady crowd every day of the week.
Also, if you leave without trying the cashew chicken, we don’t understand you.
Peking Palace Restaurant
$ | (417) 235-3737 | WEBSITE
It’s not the best Chinese food in Monett. But if you like the idea of quick, efficient service in a small space where the staff makes you feel genuinely welcome, go to Peking Palace on a busy night. This place probably has the most aesthetically pleasing dishes of any restaurant in town. They should put a sign by the kitchen because you’ll want to watch them cook your order fresh after that amazing egg drop soup greets you. The fried rice isn’t the attraction here—the distractions from it are.
You’ll happily munch on General Tso’s chicken while watching folks get their food within the promised time. Peking Palace is decent and not afraid to be straightforward about what it offers—or what it doesn’t. Just don’t bother trying to hide from the reasonable prices. They have them clearly marked, and they will find you.
Acambaro Mexican Restaurant
$ | (417) 354-8408 | WEBSITE
Acambaro Mexican Restaurant is a local favorite that serves up authentic Mexican food with consistently excellent service. There are several standout dishes, but you’re missing out if you don’t try the tacos al pastor—they’re juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, like the Mexican version of a perfectly grilled steak. But Acambaro has other great options. The enchiladas bandera has a bright, fresh taste that hits you the way a cool breeze does on a hot day.
But the melted cheese and rich sauces balance the acidity. And unlike a lot of Mexican spots where the horchata is overly sweet—it’s actually exceptional here. Get the fajita taco salad with grilled chicken, crisp lettuce, and fresh veggies topped with a zesty lime dressing as vibrant as the Mexican flag itself.
Mazzio’s Pizza & Wings
$ | (417) 235-5800 | WEBSITE
People might know Mazzio’s from other towns, but the Monett location is the real deal. Here, you’ll find the same pizza oven pumping out pies by the counter. But this particular Mazzio’s has a bit more hometown charm, with its bright red booths and checkered tablecloths that feel like a classic diner. The meal always starts with wings and ranch, which you should save for your cheesy pepperoni slice. Plus, the pizza deal here is by-the-person, meaning you get a whole meal for around $9.
For dessert, order cinnamon sticks. They’re warm, dusted with sugar, and served with icing for dipping.
Rocco’s Pizza of Monett
$ | (417) 635-1206 | WEBSITE
There are several pizza places in Monett, but this is the original Italian spot that’s been around for years. The restaurant is filled with regulars who come here for friendly service and some of the most affordable fresh pizza in town. The clean dining area and the way servers ask about your day are evidence of this. If the entire family is in tow, order the chicken bacon ranch pizza or fried ravioli to share. But if you’re looking for a deal, get the lunch special.
It comes with a personal pizza and a drink for about $10. Go for the calzone and also make sure you order the meaty fried mushrooms.
Romy’s Restaurant
$ | (417) 635-2100 | WEBSITE
Romy’s Restaurant is a popular spot on Main Street, and one of Monett’s only Mexican restaurants. They’ve got a big menu full of tacos, burgers, sandwiches, and more. But the one thing you can find on just about every table here are the cheese omelettes. Romy’s is deservedly famous for their delicious version, which comes with crispy hash browns, perfectly cooked eggs, and a generous portion of cheese (our favorite is the classic with salsa on the side).
Another thing that should be on the table—besides the wonderful fiesta street tacos—is the pork sandwich. It’s a sort of schnitzel-style cutlet on a soft bun with fresh toppings, though some extras might cost a little extra. The dining room is clean and quaint—good for a family gathering or big Sunday brunch.
Saisho Hibachi + Sushi
$ | (417) 771-7763 | WEBSITE
Saisho Hibachi + Sushi is one of those Asian fusion spots your friend from Springfield already knows about. The kind you’d find in a small town, where the hibachi grill sizzles with promise, crispy general chicken acts like a comfort food hug, and black bean pork is the star. The clean dining area is organized with simple decor and families enjoying plates of hibachi and sushi rolls. They’ve got the right idea: everything with the word ‘hibachi’ or ‘general chicken’ is solid here.
Start with the general chicken, crispy pieces coated in a tasty sauce that hits just right. Then move on to the black bean pork, savory and satisfying. Saisho is the perfect place to bring your crew for a decent meal, including that buddy who appreciates friendly service.
Los Panchos Taco Truck
$ | (417) 489-4010 | WEBSITE
This bustling taco truck serves portions so generous and flavorful they practically require two hands and a napkin stash to tackle. It’s primarily a grab-and-go spot, but there are a few folding chairs where you can devour a Torta cubano and watch the crew grill marinated chicken for tacos on the flat-top. The value here feels timeless, with most items ringing in under $12. Our top pick is the birria tacos, a rich and savory masterpiece that costs less than $10 and could satisfy a hungry duo.
We suspect the ‘taco truck’ label hints at extras like those fresh corn tortillas. Don’t skip those just because they’re not the main event.
