You don’t have to be a Silicon Valley tech bro (or a garlic festival regular) to know how much a great meal can improve your day. And there aren’t many better ways to explore a town than through its restaurants. So while you’re planning your next outing (or just dreaming of one), we’ve put together this list of local spots that will both support small businesses and seriously upgrade your dining game.
CreAsian
$$ | (408) 782-2505 | WEBSITE
Morgan Hill’s fantastic sushi spot CreAsian is open for dine-in and takeout, which is excellent news for anyone craving fresh Japanese food in this busy season. The outstanding sushi, with very fresh fish and delicious rice alongside a complimentary miso soup from the chef, is our top pick. Expect quick service – your order arrives in just 4–5 minutes even when the place is packed.
Barrel and Bean Coffee
$ | (408) 612-4004 | WEBSITE
A neighborhood spot in Morgan Hill with some killer coffee, Barrel and Bean has been one of our favorites for a while now. We highly recommend the almond milk latte, the decaf caffè macchiato, and the award-winning cookie – but really, everything is good, thanks to their expertly crafted brews. The breakfast burrito topped with chili oil salsa and the gourmet Bacon and Egg burrito with egg, bacon, two cheeses, and tomatoes in a crispy, toasted wrap are perfect complements.
Plenty of parking right out front, order at the counter.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews
$ | (408) 778-2028 | WEBSITE
Red Robin is one of the most affordable options on this list, but that doesn’t mean it’s not also fantastic. This spot in Morgan Hill serves excellent, American-style burgers. In person, that means you get endless fries with your meal, but when it comes to the experience, that means you might encounter some service delays. Our favorites are the Whiskey River BBQ burger with its tangy sauce, and the fresh onion tower with amazing campfire sauce. The burgers are satisfying but not overly heavy.
Make sure to get the doughnut tower for dessert, too. The restaurant works well for families, though improvements in cleanliness would make it even better.
Jalisciense Restaurant
$ | (408) 779-4439 | WEBSITE
Jalisciense Restaurant, the Mexican spot in Morgan Hill, serves reliably good authentic cuisine for dine-in. They use high-quality ingredients, and the carnitas tacos are juicy, with some really good flavor from careful preparation. Our favorite dish here is the Chile Verde Burrito – it’s a sort of burrito masterpiece, with a layer of tortilla wrapping in the tender pork and green chili sauce inside. Dine-in only.
Cochi’s Kitchen
$ | (408) 612-4056 | WEBSITE
The fresh-baked goods and breakfast sandwiches from Cochi’s Kitchen in Morgan Hill are local favorites for a reason: The pastries are flaky, buttery, and full of flavor, and the fillings are applied with an appropriately generous hand. You’ll be happy if you go classic and get a strawberry lemon scone or cream cheese and jalapeño bread, but we also endorse trying something different—the chicken sando and the Godfather are two of our favorites, as is grabbing a Guido with a bag of chips.
They’ve also got some of our favorite day-old baked goods in town. Stop by for a warm, welcoming experience with owner Gabby and the friendly staff.
A Jay’s Cheese Steaks of Morgan Hill
$ | (408) 779-0088 | WEBSITE
It won’t be easy to get your hands on a cheesesteak from A Jay’s, but we promise these Bay Area classics are worth the effort (you should plan ahead and take it from there). Now, about those cheesesteaks – they’re defined by tender, thinly sliced steak, a soft, fresh roll, about a pound of melty, savory provolone, and messy piles of grilled onions and peppers. Incredible cheesesteaks and a friendly, cozy atmosphere? Now that’s what we’d call a win/win.
Taste of China
$$ | (408) 778-8228 | WEBSITE
The “Taste” behind this Morgan Hill Chinese spot is all about authentic wok flavor, with dishes that keep customers coming back for more. It’s easy to see the traditional influences in these excellent offerings – you’ll find handmade potstickers, crispy salt & pepper pork spareribs, and classic chicken chow mein on the menu. Each dish has bold flavors and generous portions, somewhere between comforting classics and distinctive specialties.
Our favorite of all is the salt & pepper pork spareribs (crispy on the outside, tender on the inside). Order for dine-in or takeout – the friendly staff ensures a seamless experience. Plus, be on the lookout for that warm hospitality making this restaurant a staple in the local dining scene.
Betto’s Bistro
$$ | (408) 779-7422 | WEBSITE
Even if you’ve only ever had Betto’s Bistro when you’re casually strolling through Morgan Hill on a quiet Tuesday evening, you should still know about it for dinner. They serve varied entrees or do by-the-dish, and they’re across-the-board fresh, flavorful, and wonderful. If it’s your first time, you need to get the Lamb Citrus salad. It’s entirely too good, and as such, perfect. Order in person for dine-in or takeout.
In-N-Out Burger
$ | (800) 786-1000 | WEBSITE
If you’re looking for a fast, reliable burger on the West Coast, Morgan Hill’s In-N-Out Burger has you covered. But their burgers aren’t just good when you’re in a hurry and have an extremely strong craving for something savory and satisfying (so, you’re hungry). Regardless of the time of day (or night), no one’s going to be mad about a burger from In-N-Out. They’re absolutely delicious, and if simple, classic burgers are your thing, then you’ll be very happy with their Flying Dutchman.
Order at the drive-thru for pick-up.
Burger King
$ | (669) 253-2809 | WEBSITE
After some ups and downs, Morgan Hill’s reliable Burger King is still serving burgers, fries, and most importantly, chicken sandwiches. The classic Whopper is satisfying, but our go-to will always be the new chicken sandwich instead of the salty fish option. Grab a $1.69 soft serve cone for dessert – not only is it a sweet deal, but you should definitely treat yourself after a meal. Drive-thru and ample parking available for those towing trailers.
TenFiveOne Cider Co
$$ | (408) 393-5698 | WEBSITE
A classic Morgan Hill spot (and we mean classic, since it opened in 2018), TenFiveOne Cider Co serves dry, delicious ciders, and while they might not be as adventurous as other places on this list, we don’t need every cider to involve a thoughtful take on barrel-aged fermentation. Which is to say, we’ll never say no to a crisp glass, especially if it’s enjoyed under TenFiveOne’s stunning giant palm tree beautifully lit at sunset. Visit for trivia nights and live bands.
Ricky’s Grill BBQ & CATERING
$ | (669) 888-6611 | WEBSITE
A Morgan Hill gem tucked away in a casual setting, Ricky’s Grill BBQ & CATERING is going to be a spot you’re very glad you found (we’ll even let you take the credit). They serve barbecue and Mexican flavors that are going to wow your taste buds – the tri-tip sandwich and tacos are authentic and delicious, with a unique taste that stands out.
The quesabirria is fantastic, but if you’re feeling really hungry, get the 2-piece chicken with potato salad and coleslaw – perfectly cooked chicken with sides that complement it beautifully, all served with that incredible garlic bread. They’re currently building a loyal following, but check their social media for the latest specials. Trust us, they’re one worth remembering.
Castillo’s Hillside Shire Winery
$$ | (408) 776-8200 | WEBSITE
Castillo’s Hillside Shire Winery is a lovely family-owned spot that’s done it all during the pandemic – they maintained their beautiful hilltop vineyards, kept their charming pond area open, and added some interesting CBD-infused wine options to their selection. From their absolutely delicious merlot with unique flavors, to their small but noteworthy red wine lineup, to, you know, regular tastings of their classic varietals, they’ve got something for everyone.
Visit in person for outdoor seating with live music or take home a bottle to enjoy.
Crumbl – Morgan Hill
$$ | (408) 659-4951 | WEBSITE
Crumbl in Morgan Hill is a sweet shop that doesn’t usually do delivery, but through their app, they’ve got it. The cookies are extremely delicious – like the cotton candy cookie, red velvet cookie, and the new minis (and that’s just part of the selection). They even provide great customer service with recommendations for new additions to the menu. App ordering only, for delivery or pick-up.
Chipotle Mexican Grill
$ | (408) 776-8505 | WEBSITE
This Morgan Hill location is part of the Chipotle chain, which (not surprisingly) is a winning combo. It has the feel of a casual fast-casual spot, with generous portions you can customize, well-cooked steak, and salsas that cover all the classics, from Fresh Tomato to Tomatillo-Red Chili. That said, the steak bowl – with Fajita Veggies, Cheese, and Romaine Lettuce – is our favorite meal on the menu. Order for pick-up online – convenient parking also available.
StriXe
$$ | (408) 778-1002 | WEBSITE
Morgan Hill’s StriXe serves up solid bar food from Betsy’s with classic options like burgers and fries. They’ve got self-serve popcorn and pool tables, and the bowling alley is a fun bonus. But we usually go for the lively karaoke nights, when a DJ spins cool tunes and the atmosphere gets going. Grab a drink from the cozy bar while you’re at it. Stop by in the evenings for a family-friendly hangout with the regulars.
Panda Express
$ | (408) 779-5139 | WEBSITE
Panda Express is a Morgan Hill spot serving fresh and great-tasting Asian-style fast food. The chefs show great skill and dedication, with recent kitchen improvements leading to noticeably tastier and more flavorful dishes. The staff is friendly and hardworking, though you might wait a moment to be acknowledged, and some entrees take a bit longer—but the food is worth it. Vegetarian options include steamed vegetables, white and fried rice, chow mein, cheese ragoons, and fried veggie spring rolls.
The ambiance is clean and welcoming, typical of a chain restaurant, with accessible seating and high chairs for kids, plus ample parking for families. It’s a solid choice for a quick, familiar meal.
Parktown Pizza Company
$$ | (408) 776-9866 | WEBSITE
You’ve probably heard about those viral Indian-style pizzas taking over foodie feeds, but the classic pies from this Morgan Hill gem deserve just as much hype. We could write a whole essay praising their topping creativity, so let’s keep it brief. We’re obsessed with the Bombay (tandoori-spiced chicken, cilantro, and onions) and the spicy butter chicken (creamy sauce, tender chicken, and a kick of heat), and honestly, everything else on the menu, too.
If you’re feeling adventurous, grab an order of the tandoori wings—they’re absolutely game-changing. Order online for pick-up or delivery.
Chili’s Grill & Bar
$ | (408) 779-4152 | WEBSITE
Chili’s is still holding down its spot in Morgan Hill as one of our go-to spots for a reliable meal. And here’s the thing: Their kitchen is still turning out some really satisfying comfort food. The perfectly cooked burgers and fries are $14 for a classic cheeseburger combo, plus $2 for upgrades like avocado or bacon – we usually get one with the works, and one with just cheese and pickles. The Chicken Enchilada soup is $6 for a bowl. Dine-in only – grab a booth near the bar.
Mr. Falafel
$ | (408) 778-7777 | WEBSITE
The freshest spot on this list, Mr. Falafel is a Morgan Hill eatery serving some wonderfully authentic Mediterranean fare. They’ve got a falafel wrap with spicy sauces and lighter lavash, and their meat options come with plenty of fresh vegetables and a variety of sauces to choose from. They also offer a range of sides like fresh hummus and house-made pita chips, with the Baklava providing a perfect sweet finish that melts in the mouth.
Available for casual outdoor seating, which makes it a good family option with kid-friendly choices.
