You don’t need a culinary degree to see North Hollywood’s dining scene is having a moment. From cozy neighborhood gems to destination-worthy spots, NoHo’s restaurant boom is undeniable. And with chefs flocking here to make their mark, we’re not just getting more options—we’re getting some of LA’s most exciting food.
In-N-Out Burger
$ | (800) 786-1000 | WEBSITE
This California-based burger chain is known for long lines at its North Hollywood location, and after one bite of a burger at their walk-up window spot, we understand the hype. The classic burgers here arrive more straightforward than a Hollywood pitch meeting, with patties that are so consistently juicy they could pass as gourmet, fresh ingredients with assembly-line precision, and toppings stacked like building blocks (including crisp lettuce and ripe tomato).
Get the signature Double-Double with a double dose of everything—two beef patties, two slices of cheese, plus all the fixings—or the Animal Style fries that deliver what they promise: grilled onions, special sauce, and melty cheese intense enough to satisfy any craving.
The outdoor seating area provides a no-frills spot to enjoy your meal, and despite the constant bustle at the drive-through lanes and walk-up window, the friendly staff keeps things moving with genuine smiles and efficient service. It’s the same delicious quality you’d expect from any In-N-Out, just without the indoor seating—and honestly, with burgers this good and prices this affordable, who needs four walls?
Del Taco
$ | (818) 764-2844 | WEBSITE
This fast-food chain from North Hollywood usually has a line once the sun goes down. But while popular, Del Taco’s drive-thru can feel a bit cramped and awkward, though the staff remains courteous and professional throughout. Most everyone orders the fish tacos, which are fresh, well-cooked, and generously portioned, but we suggest asking for their inferno hot sauce, which adds a welcome kick to the meal (don’t worry, it’s often out, so get it while you can).
Few things are better for a quick, reasonably priced bite on a busy LA evening.
Hot wok Chinese food
$ | (818) 985-0967 | WEBSITE
Drive through North Hollywood and you’ll spot plenty of Chinese takeout spots with glowing signs. If you’re watching your budget—or craving something beyond the usual greasy fare—pull into Hot Wok Chinese Food. This unassuming storefront never has a crowd and excels at something you won’t find just anywhere: made-from-scratch classics at unbeatable prices.
The orange chicken is a perfect mix of crispy coating and tangy sauce served with fluffy white rice, while the veggie lo mein features fresh vegetables and springy noodles. Paired with the owner’s friendly service, it’s a satisfying meal that tastes even better knowing you didn’t break the bank while other diners debate pricier options down the street.
Full House Restaurant
$ | (818) 762-0606 | WEBSITE
We’re highlighting the Full House Restaurant and its standout dishes, mostly because despite trying multiple items over several visits, we can’t decide which one we prefer (the chicken kebobs are juicy and well-seasoned, the lamb chops are tender and flavorful, and the Lulu kabob is deliciously spiced).
Whichever you choose (probably just the one that catches your eye first), you won’t be disappointed—their salmon with vegetables is fresh and satisfying, and the beef liver is cooked to perfection, making for a cozy and inviting dining experience that’s both hearty and memorable, and one of the most essential Middle Eastern meals in North Hollywood.
El Esquite
$ | (562) 253-0744 | WEBSITE
Tucked away in North Hollywood, El Esquite is a small order-at-the-counter spot with a handful of tables, but also serves everything from esquites to tostilocos to mac and cheese with esquite. And though they offer an interesting strawberry horchata, the esquite with takis here happens to be the highlight. The flavor is extremely bold, layered, and borderline too addictive—like a carnival in your mouth rather than a simple snack. But we still love it anyway.
Every bite hits with a piledriver of toppings, and we suggest ordering your bowl with extra hot Cheetos to balance out the creamy corn base (maybe it’s the family-friendly vibe, but they don’t play around with fun here).
Jack in the Box
$ | (818) 763-3818 | WEBSITE
A welcome break from Very Serious Burger Joints with complicated menus, Jack in the Box is a reliable fast-food spot in North Hollywood that serves up dependable burgers and crave-worthy tacos without the pretense. The standout item here is the curly fries, which come with a side of potato conspiracy theories about their shortening length over the years.
You can also order the milkshakes any time of day, which swap out the typical fast-food limitations for a creamy, consistent treat, and give you a chance to better appreciate the friendly, responsive service from the professional managers.
The Seafood Shop Gourmet & Charcuterie
$ | (747) 203-8123 | WEBSITE
North Hollywood has plenty of seafood spots, but there aren’t many like The Seafood Shop Gourmet & Charcuterie, a Filipino family-owned gourmet store where staff handpick sushi-grade fish. This high-quality seafood adds a fresh depth to their offerings, which include perfectly prepared octopus and seaweed dishes, plus a 2 for $25 lobster special with rolls, chips, and a drink.
Grab some of their artisan cheeses for a creamy contrast, and browse the pasta options for a quick meal (we like pairing them with the reasonably priced goods). The shop is small, but if you visit solo, head to the counter where you’ll chat with the knowledgeable staff, admire the charming store setup, and savor your seafood in peace.
CECY’S TAQUERIA FOOD TRUCK #2
$ | (818) 582-3769 | WEBSITE
North Hollywood is for taco enthusiasts what we imagine the Vegas Strip is to people who are really into slot machines: the ultimate destination. And though we might be hard-pressed to name our absolute favorite, the one we visit most frequently is Cecy’s Taqueria Food Truck #2, a clean, always-busy spot near Costco that not only offers a variety of taco fillings, but somehow does all of them extremely well.
The tripa tacos use meat that’s crispy and flavorful, plus there are options boosted with housemade salsa verde or salsa roja. Also, their camarón-topped fish tacos are some of the best seafood tacos anywhere in LA.
Fuguya Sushi
$$ | (818) 579-4046 | WEBSITE
Fuguya Sushi specializes in fresh, high-quality sushi with an all-you-can-eat option that lets diners sample a variety of delicious rolls, including the super volcano and California tempura roll. With many veggie options and reasonable prices, the North Hollywood spot’s sushi offerings deliver all the satisfaction without any of the need for reservations. In busy or quiet evenings, it’s a welcome change of pace from the typical sushi bar’s limited seating across the plaza.
NoHo Shawarma House
$ | (818) 762-1096 | WEBSITE
This Middle Eastern spot in North Hollywood, which has become a neighborhood favorite since appearing on local best-of lists, is our go-to when we’re craving something different from the typical fast-food shawarma. NoHo Shawarma House’s tender and juicy shawarma meat is flavorful and satisfying, but we also appreciate the creamy garlic sauce, refreshing tzatziki, and friendly service that keeps things moving.
Head here for a quick meal—portions are reasonably priced at around $12-15 for a platter, the atmosphere is casual with simple wooden tables and warm lighting, and you can usually get in and out without much wait, though checking their hours online first is wise since they can be inconsistent.
Tiki No
$ | (818) 766-0116 | WEBSITE
A night at Tiki No feels undeniably refreshing, kind of like sipping a tropical breeze through a bamboo straw. The North Hollywood spot is a cozy Polynesian space that looks like a retro tiki hideaway: lots of bamboo and dark lighting that lets a fun, energetic atmosphere pour in. Tiki No’s signature Pina Colada is wonderfully light and bright, with strong coconut flavors cutting through the smooth rum base.
The specialty tiki cocktails glisten just the right way, the bartenders are friendly, and we love how quick the service is. Plus, we can share the fun bowl drink with its fire in the middle and not feel like we’re carrying a heavy mix of rums afterward.
