Vaudreuil-Dorion residents are fortunate to call home a region with a remarkable density (and heritage) of dining gems. Even the average neighborhood bistro here outshines dedicated restaurants in many other towns. But we’re here to guide you to the finest culinary experiences: from institutions that have defined local taste for years, to the exciting new arrivals stirring the pot.
Frite A Brigitte
$ | (450) 510-5151 | WEBSITE
At Frite A Brigitte, you’ll spot a menu board featuring a classic poutine with fresh fries, squeaky curd, and rich gravy. Not exactly what comes to mind when you hear “fine dining,” but don’t sell the place short. Their fries are crispy and golden, with a touch of saltiness. Big, perfectly cooked, and on the thicker side, they always taste satisfying even when they aren’t piping hot.
If you’d rather not go the classic poutine route, there’s a huge variety of creative toppings that range from bacon and sausages to other flavorful combinations.
Restaurant Souvenirs Thai
$$ | (450) 510-2992 | WEBSITE
Restaurant Souvenirs Thai is in a strip mall with easy parking—but it’s better than just a convenient location. Their peanut dumplings here alone are worth the drive to Vaudreuil-Dorion, and their Pad Thai has the texture of silky noodles, if silky noodles tasted like tamarind and chili goodness. We appreciate their General Tao for not being too sweet, and the Imperiaux rolls stay crisp and fresh even after you let them sit.
Plus, the portions are huge, which makes them appealing for sharing orders.
La Belle & La Boeuf – Burger Bar – Vaudreuil-Dorion
$$ | (450) 319-0223 | WEBSITE
You can’t visit La Belle & La Boeuf in Vaudreuil-Dorion and not order the “La St-Tite” smash burger. The place has a vibrant energy, with eclectic decor and big screens showing sports. Their teriyaki chicken is just as good—with the burgers at both locations an exercise in balance. They’re juicy but not greasy, well-seasoned but not overwhelming, and the toppings don’t completely overpower the beef.
Their onion rings also have the perfect crisp ratio, so there’s no sogginess from the batter when you take a bite with some zesty, flavorful tartar.
Cafexo Boutique
$ | (450) 218-6966 | WEBSITE
This café in Vaudreuil makes the kind of flaky, buttery croissant that Parisian ex-pats dream about after they’ve moved away. There’s nothing too trendy or overly complicated about it, and that’s exactly what makes them special.
The offerings here are pretty classic and our favorite pairings are the French crookie dipped in warm coffee, which tastes like eating a Parisian patisserie treat for breakfast, and the pesto and grilled vegetables sandwich with goat cheese when we’re in a more substantial mood.
Restaurant Boustan
$ | (450) 424-4418 | WEBSITE
Can a place known for cheap daily special bowls also serve some of Vaudreuil-Dorion’s most satisfying shawarma? Restaurant Boustan is up to the challenge. The spot looks and feels like a neighborhood fast-casual joint, with bright fluorescent lights shining over the counter, and the aromas of garlic and spices hanging in the air. But their shawarmas are excellent: just as juicy as the chicken they’re made from, with sauces that pop like fire.
The Creation Saj Wrap is legit, huge, and packed with flavor, with crispy saj bread that holds everything together—unlike the regular wrap, which can get messy. For around $12, it’s a solid, affordable eat. The garlic potatoes are next-level garlicky, and the vegetarian options, with tons of veggies and vegan-friendly sauces, don’t disappoint.
The staff were polite and courteous, the manager super friendly, and the restaurant very clean, showing they value freshness and the overall customer experience. It’s a gem for a quick, flavorful bite.
Restaurant Gaj
$$ | (450) 455-0555 | WEBSITE
The vegetarian samosa may not seem remarkable at first, but that’s kind of the point. It’s supposed to be familiar. Restaurant Gaj is entirely family-owned, and their dishes do a fantastic job of simulating a full-on Indian dining experience. In order to fully appreciate the perfectly cooked chicken curry with its rich, aromatic sauce, it helps to understand how truly not-great some takeout options can be.
But even if you’ve never explored authentic Indian cuisine, you can still have a great time eating one of these things. The homemade milk and pistachios dessert is the correct choice here.
Souvlaki Authentique Ile Perrot
$$ | (514) 453-0777 | WEBSITE
This Greek spot in Île Perrot has a bright, welcoming sign out front, though the portions inside are anything but modest—they’re generous, like the classic family-run tavernas of old—somewhat closer to the hearty, satisfying meals Greece is known for before modern minimalism. They’re still fresh, and vibrant with good, authentic flavors and a crisp, well-seasoned texture. We love Jimmy’s range of dishes, including a chicken souvlaki, vegetarian pita, and an underrated Onassis pita.
Even their house salad is a little adventurous, with fried zucchini instead of the usual veggies. Try one of their table combos too—they’re perfect for a relaxed meal on the neat terrace.
Subway
$ | (450) 458-8686 | WEBSITE
At Subway in St. Lazare on Highway 342, you don’t need to worry about a long wait unless you really want to. Especially during lunch rushes, you’ll find the service fast and efficient, the perfect setup for a turkey sub with all the veggies, or a veggie delight with avocado.
(Or, grab one to go as you make your way to a road trip with a cooler full of drinks.) Known for its cleanliness and spacious parking, this highway spot is frequented by families, travelers who stop here every trip before continuing on Highway 40, and people who don’t even bother to turn off their car engines.
Norah Café de l’Anse
$ | (438) 406-3236 | WEBSITE
Norah Café de l’Anse refuses to rush, and we admire them deeply for it. This cozy lakeside spot keeps things peaceful and charming. They’ve been serving the same exceptional gluten-free cakes since opening, and our absolute favorite is the grilled cheese sandwich with apple chutney, spinach, walnuts, and coriander. It’s the perfect example with a crispy golden exterior, melty cheese center, and flavorful ingredients that give you a satisfying taste with every bite.
Whatever you order, don’t be discouraged by the occasional wait for drinks—that just means you’ll have more time to enjoy a latte with a view of the tranquil lake and browse the fair trade artisanal objects in one visit.
Pizza Salvatoré
$ | (450) 732-2222 | WEBSITE
For a pizza with as much flavor as it has variety, head to Pizza Salvatoré in Vaudreuil-Dorion. This busy, excellent place has been serving up highly consistent, perfectly baked pies with a choice of crust. Slightly spicy, their original chicken wings have a nice kick in all the right places, and take a side of Pepsi like champions.
Their all-dressed special looks like it’s frolicked in a meadow full of toppings, with not a bland bite in sight, and you should share one with the family for a perfect end to a Quebec evening. In our visit, these were the top crowd-pleasers, scoring high on flavor and texture, with even kids loving the vegetarian option. Despite occasional system issues, the team makes an effort to remedy situations and is apologetic and helpful—plan to revisit.
Mia Pasta – Valleyfield
$ | (450) 747-0311 | WEBSITE
Mia Pasta – Valleyfield is more than just a quick pasta spot. It’s the place to be on a family night in Vaudreuil-Dorion. Walking into this restaurant any time after 5pm on Friday is like entering a kid’s birthday party—from arcade games flashing in the corner to table football matches at full volume, family fun is on full display. Other than to keep the kids entertained, come to Mia Pasta for fresh pasta with sauce made right in front of you with toppings of your choice.
Come too for their Vegetarian Pizza: the combination of crisp crust and fresh vegetables is brilliant.
Microbrasserie Trois-Lacs
$ | (514) 316-8487 | WEBSITE
This cozy local brewery in Vaudreuil-Dorion is packed with folks sampling unique beers like the must-try orange ale or the popular MissMaple, or enjoying the praised jarlberg sausage from the food truck. All solid choices, but even just a simple pint of their quality brew is satisfying in this relaxed space, which is easily recognizable by the charming artwork lining the walls.
Inside, it feels like a typical urban brewery, but there’s a dog-friendly patio where you can catch some live music or just unwind with a drink. They’ve gained popularity through the local drinking passport program, too.
Shawarmaz Vaudreuil-Dorion
$ | (450) 424-3019 | WEBSITE
At Shawarmaz Vaudreuil-Dorion, there’s a friendly host at the entrance to welcome families, even on busy weekend evenings. It’s always bustling, so plan to share a table or grab takeout. Some of the sauces, like the creamy garlic, might seem simple, but the perfectly seasoned shawarma is wonderfully tender and packed with flavor. For a crispy, savory option, try the falafel plate with tahini sauce. Or, if you’d rather have something lighter, go for the fresh salad with lemon dressing.
It’s good with just about everything.
Restaurant La Chinoise
$$ | (450) 455-6872 | WEBSITE
Ordering from Restaurant La Chinoise on a Friday evening can be overwhelming. The staff are simultaneously answering phones and packing orders, probably with some upbeat pop music playing in the background. Once you taste the generous portions, you’ll thank yourself for waiting through the busy signals. Exceptional dishes like their Thai curries aside, the hot, fresh food from this Vaudreuil-Dorion staple will bring you more satisfaction than at least two or three of your current takeout options.
And even though it gets busy, the food typically arrives piping hot.
Le Charleville
$$$ | (450) 424-2990 | WEBSITE
Le Charleville has just one location in Vaudreuil-Dorion, which helps explain why they focus so intently on local ingredients and seasonal menus. Prepared fresh daily, the dishes are vibrant and balanced, with thoughtful, layered flavors, designed to be savored slowly.
Keep in mind Le Charleville only offers a four-course prix fixe menu, and every meal comes with the option to bring your own wine, which you can pair with a few different courses like the melt-in-your-mouth scallops and exemplary steak.
Benny&Co.
$ | (450) 859-4233 | WEBSITE
You can tell you’ve got great Benny&Co. chicken as soon as you give it a gentle pull. The skin crackles just a little as you separate a piece, before it dutifully holds its crispiness like a perfectly roasted bird should. That’s how you know it’s super fresh and juicy, but still firm enough to stand up to their delicious gravy. Benny&Co.
is the only spot in Vaudreuil-Dorion that serves rotisserie chicken this consistently excellent—perfectly cooked and affordable—so there’s often a steady flow of customers. But they serve quickly, and you can watch the boulevard traffic from a clean table near the ample parking.
