Monster Treats
$ | (512) 850-8645 | WEBSITE
We felt completely adrift when our favorite childhood ice cream parlor shut down, leaving us to wander a world without their creamy Campfire treat. Luckily, this Best Restaurant of 2025 found its home in Wimberley, and the Campfire is still magical. Old favorites like rich Mint Chip and vegan Mexican vanilla make a comeback, alongside newcomers like an ASMR-worthy batters up (cake batter) and Texas mud cake drizzled with chocolate cookie pieces.
They don’t rush you through the line, so take your time sampling flavors and brushing up on your sweet tooth with the friendly staff who know every scoop by heart.
Fair Dinkum Coffee Shop
$ | (832) 638-4365 | WEBSITE
Wimberley is ground zero for cozy coffee shops. There are several within walking distance, including Fair Dinkum, a welcoming establishment with a reputation for excellent service. The shop’s bright, clean space checks all the boxes for a low-stress coffee break: pretty homey, large enough for a wandering group of three, and energy akin to a supportive community gathering.
Keep it in mind for any morning pick-me-up, just know that the atmosphere is pretty upbeat, so while a lot of the people drinking here might be with kids, don’t expect Fair Dinkum to match that chaos.
Oldies Burgers and More
$ | (512) 842-3363 | WEBSITE
This burger joint sits in a cozy Wimberley storefront, with a family-friendly dining area up front and a relaxed patio out back. Oldies Burgers and More’s menu doesn’t have the standard fast-food fare, here there are creative patties served with personality, and a server who must have a master’s in Burger-ology will walk you through everything—like how the Dan burger gets its signature crunch, why the Elvis burger works so well, and what makes those onion rings truly fabulous.
This place is comfortably unpretentious (but not at all plain) and pricey—expect to spend around $27 on a burger, fries, and soda combo.
Creekhouse Kitchen & Bar
$$ | (512) 722-3394 | WEBSITE
Any Wimberley restaurant perched right on the creek with live music and a farm-to-table menu is probably going to be a good time. This is the case with Creekhouse Kitchen & Bar, a relaxed spot overlooking the river. It’s designed to be a crowd-pleaser, buzzing with everyone from families to couples enjoying a date night. It’s also beautiful, featuring a cool build-out and a patio with stunning views of the water. The menu is straightforward—mainly burgers, bowls, and a handful of appetizers.
The Grass Fed Smash Burger is juicy and satisfying, and the fresh WTX Powerbowl with Caesar vinaigrette will have you feeling virtuous yet thoroughly content.
The Let Go
$ | (512) 858-6751 | WEBSITE
This burger joint on the square in Wimberley channels laid-back Texas charm, complete with a neat bar, all outside seating, and servers in casual attire. But behind the relaxed vibe is serious flavor. There are excellent burgers on the menu—like the popular Double Double that will make you wonder whether that patty had its own personal seasoning blend. There are also tasty cheeseburgers if fries aren’t special enough to accompany your $14 burger.
Kelly’s Hill Country Barbeque
$ | (512) 947-1609 | WEBSITE
Let us tell you about the magic of Kelly’s Hill Country Barbeque, a Texas barbecue joint that has captured the hearts of local diners. It makes us sigh with smoky satisfaction with its perfectly smoked brisket, moist and crusted with pepper. It turns barbecue skeptics into brisket believers thanks to fall-off-the-bone ribs sauced just right.
And it has a warm, rustic atmosphere that, after enough sweet tea refills, feels like you’re part of a friendly gathering masquerading as a casual lunch spot. No matter what plates make it to your table, expect tender, flavorful, and consistently excellent meats to star in this wildly delicious experience.
Durango Restaurant
$ | (512) 847-3473 | WEBSITE
The fantastic breakfast tacos, authentic Mexican flavors, and surprisingly fair prices are just a few reasons to linger at Durango Restaurant for as long as possible. This cozy spot also has the perfect combination of local buzz and impressively fast service that prevents the entire dining room from feeling overwhelmed even during the busiest morning rushes.
Wimberley Cafe
$ | (512) 847-3333 | WEBSITE
Reservations at this old-school cafe are recommended for weekends, and a line forms outside 30 minutes before they open. But once you’ve snagged your seat and had your first bite of their chicken and waffles, it’s clear why. Each of their breakfast favorites is distinct, with only a handful of components, giving every ingredient room to showcase its flavor. But the must-order is their namesake dish, the chicken fried steak.
Without even factoring in tasty biscuits with sausage gravy, fresh eggs with grits, and crispy bacon, we’d happily wait in line just for the perfectly seasoned gravy.
The Shady Llama
$ | (512) 539-7407 | WEBSITE
The Shady Llama has carved out a unique niche, from roadside attraction to food truck destination, to (now) a sprawling outdoor venue in Wimberley offering casual bites with animal encounters. And relaxation is exactly what you’ll feel throughout your visit at this Hill Country spot. The open-air space radiates charm, from the friendly greeting when you arrive to your last sip of local beer enjoyed while watching the sunset over the spectacular view.
The food truck options are limited, but that just means you can sample everything, like the excellent offerings from the trucks, and pair them with wine while feeding the llamas and petting the donkeys.
Mima’s Tacos
$ | (512) 847-1305 | WEBSITE
Mima’s Tacos is a fantastic Tex-Mex-focused and also “breakfast taco-focused” restaurant. This basically means that every dish uses authentic, flavorful ingredients. It’s definitely not just breakfast, however—lunch and dinner options make an appearance throughout the menu (although you can easily stick with breakfast all day).
There are always a few non-taco mains like enchiladas, migas plates, or chocolate chip pancakes, too, and while those are good, you should mainly be coming here for the tacos.
Rositas
$ | (512) 648-1342 | WEBSITE
Rositas makes for a casual-yet-still-delicious stop in Wimberley. It’s ideal for a hearty breakfast, and a good option for lunch with friends as well. The food is fresh, and even simple-sounding things like chorizo and egg tacos are impressive. You can order a la carte, or try the migas and papa en chile for around $15 if you really want to go all out.
Dark Skies Tavern
$ | (512) 847-6595 | WEBSITE
For folks looking to escape the city and unwind under the stars, there’s Dark Skies Tavern in the Texas hills. Expect the small-town bar to have incredible food from their food truck, with every bite packed with flavor, and to take place in a rustic interior with a warm and inviting atmosphere. But if that sounds too quiet, they have nightly events like karaoke and live bands that add to the fun.
There, you can enjoy drinks that are on point while relaxing by the pool or listening to music on their small stage. But honestly, stopping by just for the outstanding service from the manager and staff is a totally reasonable decision.
The Deli Llama
$ | (512) 539-7407 | WEBSITE
A Vietnamese rice bowl stars on both the $18 food truck menu and the $12 kids’ plate at The Deli Llama. It’s also the dish that captures The Deli Llama’s best traits: family-friendly, relaxed, and delicious. At this sprawling brewery in the Hill Country, a gentle breeze serenades families while staff in casual attire share smiles from behind the counter.
With its playful-swagger approach to casual dining, The Deli Llama is a refreshing change-up from stuffier spots that also love craft beers and sunset views.
Beer Ranch Project
This is the cozy cabin version of the Beer Ranch Project, and is about half the size of a typical Texas ranch. Other notable differences are that it doesn’t have a full-service restaurant, and has a more limited offering focused on comfort and convenience, along with a lot more walking distance to bars, restaurants, and the best pizza in town.
And because the space here is smaller and everyone gets their very own room, this is the better Beer Ranch Project for a couple or anniversary getaway when you don’t want to ask your partner to move whenever you need to explore the area.
Taqueria San Judas
$ | (512) 722-3357 | WEBSITE
Taqueria San Judas’s quesabirria with chile de arbol sauce lasts only a few bites, but you’ll be craving that combination of crispy tortilla and tender beef days later. The dishes at this spot are fresh, flavorful, and mostly vegetarian-friendly, like the torta or a green creamy mild sauce with fresh herbs inside a warm tortilla.
JPs Wimberley BBQ
$ | (512) 722-3456 | WEBSITE
JPs Wimberley BBQ is a classic Texas barbecue joint from the local team, with great smoked meats, hearty sides, and live music. And if you’re looking for something truly special or want a meal that’ll stick to your ribs without having to get too fancy, make your way to their main dining area. That’s where you’ll find their signature spread—a rustic, wood-paneled space with its own vibe and dishes like tender sliced brisket and a pulled pork sandwich on a soft bun.
Sip! on the Square
$ | (512) 722-3685 | WEBSITE
Sip! on the Square’s $6 strawberry vanilla latte begins when you step into the warm, rustic space, greeted by the comforting aroma of fresh coffee brewing. But the delight of discovering this limited-time item, available only while supplies last, makes this cozy Wimberley spot from the local team so special.
At the small café with limited indoor seating, you sip the hot honey vanilla latte with oat milk, nibble on ooey gooey chocolate chip cookies, and watch baristas craft rich espresso drinks with relaxed energy. By the time you finish your perfectly paired pastry with a classic drip coffee, you’ll be itching to run back for another mid-day break of people-watching and friendly conversation.
Cypress Creek Coffee House
$ | WEBSITE
Cypress Creek Coffee House is like a cozy European coffeehouse that serves a whole lot of caffeine, but also shows its sweeter side with tempting pastries and a whole section of the menu devoted to dairy-free options. Sit at the outdoor tables or upstairs with friends, and make sure to try a bit of everything.
Social On The Square
$ | (512) 842-3070 | WEBSITE
Wimberley has so many wine-tasting spots, it’s easy for them to blur into an indistinct, grapey haze. But Social On The Square in the town square is a much-needed refresh. The main ingredients for that cure? The cozy fire pit in the outdoor seating area—where friendly staff transform wine selections into perfect pairings. Relaxation seekers snack on charcuterie boards, hummus enthusiasts dig into fresh dips with light bites, and couples alternate between sips of frozen sangria and frose swirl.
While the live music and special gatherings have their charm, the wine-and-snack simplicity is why we come here. Sure, that might mean navigating some square foot traffic, but it’s easy to unwind after a perfectly constructed bite of cheese, hummus, and your favorite glass of wine.
