I was feeling a bit defeated one afternoon because, while I usually assemble an impressive lineup of sandwiches for lunch every Wednesday (dubbed Wich Wednesday), this time I completely forgot to prep. Turns out, the Italian Stallion from Dino’s Sub & More in Fort Lauderdale is an immediate spirit-lifter. This phenomenal creation involves layers of high-quality meats and cheeses piled onto their fresh, delicious bread with an extensive selection of toppings.
It’s hearty, flavorful, satisfying, and well worth giving Wich Wednesday a break. The house-made gumbo is another must-try that delivers comfort in a bowl.

The last time I grabbed lunch from Kristof’s Big Foot Subs & Gyros, I ordered one of their outrageously large French Dip sandwiches with extra pickles, plus a gyro to share with my coworker.
When I was almost back to the office, I realized I’d forgotten to ask for extra napkins, so I turned the car around, went back inside where the super friendly staff immediately handed me a stack, quickly drove back, and opened the bag to find out they’d actually thrown in an extra side of pickles and some extra dipping sauce. This felt like finding an extra fry at the bottom of the bag, only if that fry was a whole bonus meal instead.
As I started eating the generous portion of fresh-made sub with its perfectly tender beef and au jus, my sensible plan of saving half for dinner that night disappeared. As did the sandwich.
