Our authentic neighborhood joints are some of the best places to eat in town, and you won’t find a better one than Las Cazuelas. This hidden gem has been serving incredible food for years, and is the kind of place you walk into for a quick lunch and end up staying for hours because you got caught up celebrating a birthday with the friendly staff and excellent music playlist.
You haven’t truly experienced Mexican cuisine until you’ve tried their amazing agua de jamaica and fresh chips and salsa.
La Hacienda del Toro

Walk into the spacious back porch any time after 7pm on the weekends, and you’ll find families and friends sharing sizzling fajitas, enjoying live music like it’s a fiesta, and sipping cocktails crafted by the bartender Guero until late into the evening. Inside, you’ll find an even livelier room with vibrant decor and a warm atmosphere enhanced by staff like Araceli.
The Santa Rosa dining scene offers plenty of options, but La Hacienda del Toro is an excellent spot for celebrations.

The scene at this classic steakhouse is an elegant blend of couples celebrating anniversaries over romantic dinners and groups enjoying superb food in a top-notch environment.
There’s also a whole dessert situation with chocolate cake and cheesecake that you’re obviously getting involved with.

Once featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, this cheerful spot is everything you want in authentic Mexican dining, but we’d be lying if we said it wasn’t known for one thing – those heavenly fish tacos.
Dig into generous portions of handmade tortillas and whole fried fish or whatever your dish of choice is and the super friendly staff will graciously make sure everything is fresh. Just don’t fill up on the spicy salsa before the amazing beef soup even arrives.

The restaurant has a heavy traditional Mexican aesthetic with warm lighting and rustic décor, but the food is so good, we don’t care that it gets crowded on weekends. Also, those mole enchiladas are fantastic and your cousin’s best bet at culinary redemption.
Bag O’ Crab

Bag O’ Crab is one of Santa Rosa’s standout seafood spots, and even though it’s tucked away in a strip mall, this elevated crab shack feels just as satisfying as any waterfront destination. There’s no fancy waterfront view or elaborate nautical theme, just tremendous seafood in a clean, well-lit atmosphere where you could easily spend an entire evening.
If you’re craving something beyond crab, the shrimp and ramen is a popular choice, so you can enjoy a comforting bowl alongside your seafood feast.
Los mariscos
Los Mariscos is one of the most essential seafood spots in Santa Rosa. This local institution is a straightforward mariscos joint where you could spend an entire meal just working your way through their signature dishes. Weekends tend to get swarmed with families and groups of out-of-towners, so we recommend going on a weeknight when it’s just as satisfying, but the service is much more relaxed and you’ll actually be able to chat with Marcos, the owner.
Don’t ignore the seafood tower either – it gets addictive.
O Sushi

The truth is Santa Rosa isn’t exactly a coastal town, but O Sushi brings the ocean right to your table. And after a long week of work, you and your crew need some seriously fresh fish. O Sushi is technically a family-run spot, but its calm atmosphere, generous portions, and umami-packed rolls mean one thing – it’s the real deal. It’s also got that welcoming vibe and the food is made right there. That jumbo sushi burrito? A must-try. Life is good.
