Everyone craves fresh seafood when the mood strikes. And while Waxahachie might not be coastal, more spots than ever are serving up ocean-to-table delights. But if you want truly exceptional seafood—without the long drive or tourist crowds—you still have options. Here are the standout restaurants where you can savor the catch of the day in Waxahachie.
Crescent City Daiquiris & Creole Cafe
$ | (469) 550-2013 | WEBSITE
You never got around to planning that trip to New Orleans, did you? Don’t feel bad—when you’re eating the well-seasoned catfish at Crescent City Daiquiris & Creole Cafe in Waxahachie, you can forget you’re in the suburbs. Order anything involving crab (including the amazing Crab cakes, which are always a highlight), or the pasta infused with crab boil flavor. Just make sure you have enough time to hang out after dinner and have drinks.
The space has a kid-friendly, casual vibe and comfortable seating that will make you want to stay a while.
Amaya’s Bar & Grill
$ | (972) 617-3616 | WEBSITE
Amaya’s Bar & Grill’s dining room is inviting, with warm lighting, rustic decor, and plenty of cozy booths. It’s also one of the best-kept secrets in Waxahachie, which means the crowd (to the extent that there is one) seems to be filled with mostly regulars. Stick with Tex-Mex classics like the spicy chicken and top-shelf margarita, and plan on ordering a second round as an excuse to spend more time here. Who knows, maybe you’ll become a regular, too.
Fish City Grill
$$ | (469) 820-9848 | WEBSITE
At first glance, the main dining room at this Waxahachie seafood spot will seem like your best option for enjoying a meal here. But don’t let the obvious choice fool you—there’s actually a stellar patio that overlooks a man-made lake that’s way more appealing. It’s filled with comfortable seating, has the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed dinner outside, and is a great place to soak in the peaceful waterside views.
Wilson’s Seafood & Grill
$$ | (469) 672-6133 | WEBSITE
One of our favorite spots in Waxahachie is Wilson’s Seafood & Grill. And for a special occasion you can take advantage of their beautifully decorated dining room, which feels surprisingly spacious and elegant for a local seafood spot. Once there, you can pretty much go with anything on the menu—we’ve yet to find something we don’t like. The cedar plank salmon is a must-order, and you’ll also want to try their appetizers, like the Ahi Tuna with perfect seasoning.
Johnny Carino’s
$ | (972) 923-2631 | WEBSITE
Johnny Carino’s has good bread and tasty dishes that are authentically Italian. But the lasagna is this Waxahachie restaurant’s biggest draw. It’s flavorful, generous, and even comes with that soft and chewy texture everyone loves. For larger appetites, the Johnny’s Combo ensures that you don’t have to rely on just one classic Italian dish for satisfaction. The restaurant does get busy on weekends, but their friendly service with attentive waitstaff is just as good for a family meal.
Prime 115
$$$ | (214) 903-7514 | WEBSITE
There are multiple seafood spots in Waxahachie, but Prime 115 is the only one with a beautiful ambiance and occasional entertainment by the bar. You can get things like the NY Strip and Delmonico Ribeye, but you’ll also find a long list of flavorful dishes like their Roasted Sea Scallops or the Lobster Mac n Cheese, served in a comfortable atmosphere with attentive wait staff.
With a reputation for outstanding service and a welcoming environment, Prime 115 is highly recommended for any celebration, including special events like wedding rehearsal dinners.
Te’Jun The Texas Cajun- Red Oak
$ | (214) 612-0104 | WEBSITE
Te’Jun The Texas Cajun is a casual seafood spot in Red Oak with a lakeside patio and a welcoming industrial vibe, whether you’re a crawfish connoisseur or someone who just wants to watch the kids feed ducks. The menu covers a solid range, from shrimp and crab legs to lobster tail, with popular options like the seafood combo and vegetarian picks such as Shrimp potato and corn—the fried mushrooms and fries are particularly satisfying.
They also have a family-friendly atmosphere with religious scriptures on the walls and tables, plus plenty of parking and wheelchair access. Glasses of wine or beer run about $8-$15, and entrees are priced between $25-$45, which some might find a bit steep, but the friendly service, especially from staff like Davis, makes it worth a visit for the outdoor deck and nearby park views.
Texas Best Smokehouse & BBQ
$ | (972) 775-5154 | WEBSITE
Texas Best Smokehouse & BBQ is a very popular smokehouse in Waxahachie with a straightforward dining room that you might not notice. But Texas Best Smokehouse & BBQ is also open during the week, when you can order things like tender pulled pork sandwiches, spicy jalapeño beans, or awesome brisket tacos. You can then relax knowing that the quick and courteous service means there’s a good chance you’ll leave stuffed without breaking the bank.
Atkins Seafood
$ | (214) 463-5490 | WEBSITE
After a long drive through Waxahachie, Atkins Seafood quietly caught my eye with its simple outdoor seating area. This unassuming spot happens to be an ideal place to enjoy $14 grilled salmon salads (which are way fresher than they have a right to be) and $22 live lobster—you can even get the combo basket with shrimp, crab cake, hush puppies, and okra for $28.
The friendly staff quickly accommodated our group at one of their weathered wooden tables, where we discovered highlights like the bacon-wrapped shrimp and homemade key lime pie. While portions may be small, the food is expertly prepared, and the service remains attentive throughout. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Atkins Seafood delivers a memorable dining experience with its fresh seafood and reasonable prices.
