One moment you’re craving a perfect medium-rare ribeye. The next, you’re scrolling through endless menus, wondering if that ‘steakhouse’ really knows its porterhouse from its T-bone. We’ve all been there. But where to go when you want serious beef in Bakersfield? It’s time to book a table at one of these places. From classic chophouses to modern grills, these spots deliver the sear, the savor, and the satisfaction.
Flame & Fire Brazilian Steakhouse
$$$ | (661) 498-7577 | WEBSITE
Eating alone at home in 2019: a bit sad, lonely, mildly concerning. Eating alone at home in 2020: fantastic, on-trend, sexy. Flame & Fire Brazilian Steakhouse is making it all the more sexy by delivering the Rodizio lunch, lobster bisque, roasted buffalo cauliflower, and that must-try pineapple. Each meat selection is around $45 for the full experience, and there’s even live music for the evening after.
Texas Roadhouse
$$ | (661) 397-0422 | WEBSITE
We have a real soft spot for Bakersfield’s Texas Roadhouse. We once spent a solid three hours here making our way through their menu and chatting nonsense. Thanks to the chaos that is modern life, we will be doing the exact same, only from the comfort of our living room. As well as frosty beers and 10/10 margaritas, they’re also serving up their signature loaded potato, which is a must-order if you’ve got a hearty appetite.
Black Angus Steakhouse
$$ | (661) 324-0814 | WEBSITE
Grab a napkin, fire up the grill, spill some steak juice on the table, and you’re basically at a steakhouse. Right? Anyway, Black Angus Steakhouse in Bakersfield is serving up ribeyes, filet mignon, potato wedges, and more. We like the look of the ribeye for under thirty bucks and you can enjoy a lively, exciting atmosphere whilst you’re at it.
Hungry Hunter Steakhouse
$$ | (661) 328-0580 | WEBSITE
Do you live in Bakersfield? Do you feel like something called prime rib might be your family dinner spirit dish? Perfect, because that’s the standout item you can collect from Hungry Hunter’s generous portions menu. They’re also serving within their classic steakhouse atmosphere, and there’s even an aptly named chocolate molten cake dessert situation. We feel satisfied.
Original Roadhouse Grill
$$ | (661) 587-8039 | WEBSITE
In our former lives as People Who Dine Out, Original Roadhouse Grill was one of our favourite spots to go and enjoy a hearty steak dinner in. No, we’re not salivating, you’re salivating. But the good news is that this Bakersfield spot with a welcoming feel is now offering mouth-watering dishes like Ribeye steak and salmon. They’re open regularly and there are plenty of delicious options available. Plus warm bread with fresh sweet butter is included.
K C Steak House
$$ | (661) 322-9910 | WEBSITE
K C Steak House is not just what we now refer to our date night spot as when we indulge there, it’s also one of Bakersfield’s best steakhouses. The romantic restaurant offers a 20oz bone-in Ribeye that runs about $48, served in an intimate setting with a 70’s lounge vibe. You can savor and relish your meal, and the best part is as well as classics like the filet and Oreo cake, they’re also featuring dishes like escargot and lobster Mac. Well-maintained.
Outback Steakhouse
$$ | (661) 834-7850 | WEBSITE
Last night we dropped a twenty on a particularly satisfying sirloin. Why? That’s between us and our craving for something hearty. But for $22 you can order up a classic blackberry sangria, draft beer, or fillet 9oz from Outback Steakhouse. If ‘just having one’ isn’t really part of your dinner style, they do a signature Chicken on the Barbie with baked potato and salad for a very reasonable $28. Heads up, there’s a smoky grilled aroma and tender, juicy meat too.
Horse in the Alley
$$$ | (661) 843-7982 | WEBSITE
A filet with peppercorn whiskey sauce sounds distinctly like the kind of thing you’d order on a special occasion, and you know what, we’re into it. Bakersfield spot Horse in the Alley offers an exceptional dining experience in their elegant alley location. You can find a fantastic rib eye steak, a fresh Alfredo ala Florence, and that standout Malva dessert on their menu. Bonus points if you pair it with one of their superb cocktails while enjoying the relaxed pace of the meal.
Tahoe Joe’s
$$ | (661) 664-7750 | WEBSITE
Steak, steak, and more steak. That’s what you can expect from this Bakersfield spot that specializes in hearty American fare. More importantly, you’re hungry and they do generous portions. Yes there’s the twin fillet, but if you’re feeling adventurous there’s chicken with whiskey and peppercorn, salmon, and shrimp. We’re going to stop saying steak now and just tell you to order the chicken pot pie soup too.
