Some say sushi is for special occasions. For celebrations. For splurges. But when you crave that perfect bite—the snap of fresh fish, the warmth of seasoned rice—there are only two things that satisfy: a trip to Tokyo, or a seat at a truly great local bar. (Preferably the latter.) We’ve scoured Kennewick for the very best, very freshest, expertly crafted omakase and à la carte experiences, and these are the ones that made the cut.
Red Bento Teriyaki Restaurant
$ | (509) 545-3010 | WEBSITE
File the bento boxes at this unassuming Asian spot in the practical section of your dining guide, because there’s definitely some value alchemy involved here. The menu stays consistent, but there are usually a couple teriyaki options available—all with more generous portions than you’d expect at these reasonable prices. Most recently, we loved a hot and delicious chicken teriyaki with fresh toppings and side sauces.
Sit inside and enjoy a quiet meal, alongside some pho and a full bento that could easily feed two.
Sakura Restaurant
$ | (509) 628-8602 | WEBSITE
Visit any popular sushi spot in Kennewick, and you’re bound to find tables filled with colorful rolls and steaming bowls of pad thai. Shake things up occasionally with Sakura’s signature sake bomb. It’s $8 during happy hour at this cozy Asian fusion restaurant.
Shiki Sushi & Grill
$$ | (509) 820-3788 | WEBSITE
It’s a damn shame that it’s not socially acceptable to bring your sushi into the kitchen, because Shiki Sushi & Grill’s chefs work behind a gorgeous little counter display, which would be a lovely thing to watch while nibbling on their fresh uni and ikura and volcano rolls. Instead, sit at one of their clean, inviting tables in this Kennewick restaurant, and savor your expertly prepared dishes as you wait for your next course of miso soup or takoyaki.
Family Garden
$ | (509) 578-1023 | WEBSITE
We love Family Garden for a couple of reasons. The first is that it’s incredibly fast—our food arrived in under five minutes—and the second is that this Tri-Cities spot has some of the most refreshing takes on Chinese classics that you can find in the area. Their orange chicken is loaded with flavor, cutting through what would otherwise be a pretty standard dish—and making it the perfect bite for a family dinner if you’re celebrating something special.
Tokyo Sushi & Teriyaki
$ | (509) 491-3046 | WEBSITE
While it might not technically transport you to Japan, Tokyo Sushi & Teriyaki’s creamy, savory, crab-filled California Rolls are an exceptionally satisfying bite. Packed with avocado, cucumber, and imitation crab, it definitely feels like you’re tasting perfection with every piece, as you relax in the warm lighting and welcoming atmosphere of this reliable Kennewick spot.
Golden Roll Sushi
$ | (509) 771-8200 | WEBSITE
Sushi trucks are inherently fun, but eating from one that’s part of a collective hub makes the experience even more memorable. There’s two equally satisfying roll options here, and we especially like the Golden Crunchy Roll—a mouth-watering crunchy concoction with fresh fish and crisp tempura—for those extra-busy lunch rushes. The spicy salmon roll wasn’t actually spicy, but a dab of wasabi can be added to kick up the heat.
While there was a minor wait during the lunch rush, the sushi arrived promptly and was absolutely worth it. We couldn’t finish the huge platter in one sitting, but the amazing leftovers made for a perfect dinner later. At around $12-18 per specialty roll, you’re getting fantastic quality for the price. The positive owner and kind staff kept things cheerful even when the line stretched around the corner.
The food truck setup feels lively and communal, with simple counter seating that lets you watch the chef work magic. He was happily accommodating when we requested a roll change, proving that great customer service doesn’t require a fancy dining room. This is exactly the kind of fresh, delicious sushi spot that makes you want to come back week after week.
Rice and Noodles
$ | (509) 567-7727 | WEBSITE
Rice and Noodles is a spot that feels like it was purpose-built to try one too many cuisines, not that we’ve ever done that. The hidden gem in Kennewick rotates their Asian dishes regularly, but the beef short ribs are on the menu for good reason. Savor them alongside steamed rice and salad at a cozy family-friendly table.
TOMI Sushi & Ramen
$ | (509) 820-3006 | WEBSITE
From the same team behind the town’s favorite spots, TOMI Sushi & Ramen knows its way around a ramen bowl. On any given evening, the rotating special at this Japanese-leaning restaurant in Kennewick might be the Tam Tam Spicy Pork Ramen or the highly praised Tonkotsu Ramen, both of which pair nicely with TOMI’s flavorful spicy edamame and calamari. But our favorite is their lush, satisfyingly authentic sushi selection.
Osaka Teriyaki and Sushi
$ | (509) 737-2900 | WEBSITE
This Kennewick sushi spot is like a suburban strip mall surprise, complete with bright lighting and friendly, efficient service. Don’t expect traditional Japanese decor though—the food here is authentically delicious. Try the fresh, sticky-rice Philadelphia Roll.
Sushi Mori
$ | (509) 783-0232 | WEBSITE
For a night of concentrated sushi enjoyment, head to Sushi Mori in the Kennewick shopping strip. The cozy, family-style restaurant, known for its outstanding quality, has a variety of delicious rolls on the menu at all times, with everything from a flavorful Geisha roll (which you can even get rice-less for those cutting back on carbs), to a spicy shrimp roll full of fresh, tasty ingredients.
Ara Sushi & Grill
$$ | (509) 371-9439 | WEBSITE
Finding top-tier sushi in Kennewick can feel like a treasure hunt. Discovering Ara Sushi & Grill, tucked away on the second floor, is not. It’s a sushi experience that gets elevated with generous portions, bringing a satisfying heft, and an immediate shift to Flavor Town. The house rolls arrive like edible sculptures, each piece a testament to pleasantly firm fish and vibrant accompaniments.
The complimentary miso soup starts things on a warm, welcoming note, while the attentive service ensures your water glass never empties. Yes, you’ll climb a flight of stairs to reach this hidden gem, but the reward is a large, clean dining room where the focus stays squarely on the food. The menu, reasonably priced with vegan options thoughtfully included, makes indulgence feel accessible rather than extravagant.
For those who believe more is more when it comes to sushi, Ara delivers—proving that sometimes the best things aren’t just found, they’re happily devoured.
