In Tallahassee, true Thai food cred isn’t measured by who can name the newest spot on Tennessee Street. It’s about who remembers the original family recipes that arrived before the college expansion, the hidden gems that survived the campus boom. Whether you’re a Seminole lifer or a recent transplant, keeping up with the city’s evolving Thai scene moves faster than a Florida thunderstorm. Let this list be your guide.
Lemon And Thyme
$$ | (850) 765-7517 | WEBSITE
Lemon and Thyme sits among the bustling lunch spots. This healthy-focused eatery with make-your-own bowls is ideal for quick work lunches or when we just feel like grabbing something fresh and flavorful on a busy Wednesday afternoon. The Southwest steak bowl is a must with a mix of flavors that combine for superhero-level satisfaction for our taste buds. And if there’s a Mediterranean bowl available, we’d say order an extra because sharing the last bite is a tough negotiation with your coworker.
And be sure to plan ahead during peak hours since the bright, clean interior is usually buzzing with people.
Aaru’s Multicuisine Restaurant
$ | (850) 350-0129 | WEBSITE
The Aaru’s Multicuisine Restaurant name is a clear hint of what they excel at. It’s on our Indian food list, so we understand why this place is consistently drawing in families during lunch hours or solo diners enjoying the quiet atmosphere in the restaurant’s clean, simple space. A range of dishes like the lamb rogan josh with its spicy, aromatic sauce (no bland, watered-down version from a can) make this an ideal lunch destination.
But later in the evening when we crave something comforting, we’d plan a special visit for their lunch buffet, where the extensive menu and super fresh food truly shine.
Bahn Thai Restaurant
$ | (850) 224-4765 | WEBSITE
Remember the big debate for best Thai food in Tallahassee? Bahn Thai has now entered the chat. Their fun, sauce-covered takes on classic dishes give the local scene some much-needed flair. While it’s not the fanciest spot in town, it’s a commendable neighborhood Thai restaurant. In addition to favorites like the aromatic red curry and flavorful drunken noodles, they’ve got the crab Rangoons we desperately needed—crispy pockets filled with creamy crab.
And the simply decorated dining room has a cozy, welcoming feel when you need to shake up your dinner rotation with some beautifully presented, vegetable-focused plates.
Thai Place
$ | (850) 597-9663 | WEBSITE
Thai Place’s consistently delicious menu is the heart of this cozy spot, known for its warm greeting upon arrival. Props to them for crafting what’s reliably one of the most satisfying Thai experiences in all of Tallahassee. Menu highlights like the fresh garlic chicken with veggies and the phenomenal Chicken Massaman Curry let you know they take their flavors seriously.
While the service can feel a bit overwhelmed during busy times, the staff remains friendly and helpful—and we appreciate that earnest effort. And we love a quaint setting filled with culture that helps us forget we’re just out for dinner, since we always want to savor every bite. Dishes like the cashew beef and fried rice accompanied by spring roll and wonton soup keep us coming back to enjoy a meal with friends at this delightful spot worth the drive.
Siam Sushi
$$ | (850) 391-9021 | WEBSITE
Siam Sushi isn’t just another Thai spot, it’s among the finest in the city. Food lovers can find everything from spicy curries to creative sushi rolls. The menu leans heavily into authentic Thai cuisine with standout dishes like the shrimp and eggplant with chili paste and the chicken in green curry sauce. The Godzilla roll is a must-try, and the ‘Trust me’ option lets the chefs showcase their creativity (though I wish they’d offer more than one Singha beer on tap).
The real appeal of this place is the clean, well-kept dining room with its professional yet warm atmosphere. But the outdoor seating area brings another dining option. Surrounded by lush greenery, it’s a peaceful spot where you can enjoy a meal under string lights. It fully cements Siam Sushi as the best place to eat and relax in the neighborhood.
Flavor Treasure
$ | (850) 421-2799 | WEBSITE
When you’re craving authentic Szechuan cuisine, head off the main drag to discover Flavor Treasure. It’s part cozy dining spot, part bustling takeout counter, and completely worth seeking out for standout dishes like their addictive chicken wings and exceptional mapo tofu. The restaurant has seen its share of changes over the years, but this current incarnation might just be our favorite. We love to settle into one of the limited but comfortable booths under warm lighting.
And at the counter, place an order for the generously portioned dry pot loaded with fresh vegetables and juicy shrimp.
Lemongrass
$ | (850) 765-0672 | WEBSITE
Lemongrass’s tucked-away spot brings authentic Vietnamese cuisine and generous portions to the hungry neighborhood. But what we love most about Lemongrass is the Pho that’s so full of flavor that even the most discerning food critics would be impressed. Scanning the menu, it’s hard not to order everything, but the Pad Thai—which is not little in portion size or taste (the shrimp version is our go-to)—and savory Bahn Mi are always a good idea.
Private booths in the quaint dining room offer cozy seating that’s usually filled with small groups sharing plates or regulars savoring their favorite dishes.
Reangthai Thai Restaurant
$$ | (850) 386-7898 | WEBSITE
The short rib and shrimp special is served in generous portions, so this restaurant is really living up to its reputation. We love their flawlessly prepared dishes, which include refined things like their bold Pad Thai Duck or well-rounded gluten-free options. Go for the chef’s recommendations, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service—all delivered with four generations of experience. Bring your celebration too since there is a feeling of being served by a renowned private chef.
If you go for a special night out, prepare to pay slightly high prices because this is the only hidden gem in Tallahassee for Thai cuisine.
Siam Bistro
$ | (850) 692-3953 | WEBSITE
Siam Bistro is one of the standout Thai spots in Tallahassee (it’s from the team that helped put authentic Thai flavors on the map here). The restaurant feeds your senses with a lovely, intimate dining space, but their great, comforting Thai plates are the real feast. The Tom Kha with shrimp is what you might make if you grew up with elders who balanced tradition with innovation.
And the exceptional Thai tea crème brûlée is our favorite dish out the kitchen—caramelized sugar and creamy custard taste like they come with a side of pure satisfaction.
Royal Thai and Sushi
$ | (850) 536-6483 | WEBSITE
Royal Thai and Sushi is Tallahassee’s answer to those Thai-sushi fusion spots. But they add authentic dishes like Panang curry, pad Thai, and shrimp pad see ew to appeal to our craving for genuine flavors. And we thank them for their service—especially since we can get a quick, delicious meal that won’t break the bank the way fancier places usually do.
Moving through the menu selecting from Thai classics and sushi rolls makes us feel like our neighborhood takeout joint got a serious upgrade, and we aren’t complaining. The warm lighting in the quaint dining area is perfect when we need a comfortable break from the daily grind, but it’s common to see many people ordering for delivery, so calling ahead is the move.
Happy Wok
$ | (850) 514-3632 | WEBSITE
The family-run counter, a steady stream of takeout orders, and portions big enough to feed a small army are all enough to make this Chinese spot the one thing your whole crew can actually agree on. The shrimp rolls and shrimp chow mein with bean sprouts are the only hints you need that this joint brings serious flavors. The tender, meat-filled wontons are easily the best appetizer option here. The cheese wontons are another reason we look forward to Friday nights.
And if you want soup, the pork-filled wonton soup is the Adonis of takeout soups. We’ll even forgive them for being a bit pricey since we love digging in here.
Thai Kitchen Cuisine
$ | (850) 999-8960 | WEBSITE
Stop by for lunch and if the dated décor and family-owned atmosphere don’t whisk you away from daily routines, this kitchen’s take on Thai classics just might. Enjoy a straightforward menu of staples (basil fried rice with your choice of protein) and satisfying dishes (coconut soup—a creamy, aromatic broth that hits the spot) from the simple dining area or with a to-go order. No matter your choice, mango sticky rice makes any visit to Thai Kitchen Cuisine complete.
