Hanna – Asian Noodle Bar (Downtown)
$$ | (408) 442-5172 | WEBSITE
For years, this fantastic Vietnamese restaurant in Los Gatos has been one of our go-to spots for pho and garlic noodles. And truthfully, we haven’t tried one thing at Hanna that we didn’t love. But our favorite dish is the tri-tip pho, which is like a meaty pile of rich broth and fresh herbs. The portions here are generous, so if you’re flying solo, just go for the regular–every bowl comes with bean sprouts, basil, lime, and a huge helping of rice noodles.
Keep this place in mind when you’re looking for somewhere to pick up food before a stroll around downtown Los Gatos.
Cẩm Hưng Sandwich and Coffee
$ | (408) 735-8989 | WEBSITE
Cẩm Hưng Sandwich and Coffee is a family-run restaurant and community staple in Los Gatos. The no-frills space feels like you’re in the back of a neighborhood convenience store, and everybody inside treats it as such. Regulars gather at the few small tables, eating massive banh mi sandwiches packed with tremendous Vietnamese flavor. The banh cuon is the house specialty here, and it’s so delicate and savory it’ll ruin most other versions you’ve ever had.
If you arrive around lunchtime, you’ll be able to order from both their sandwich menu and hot food options, which is ideal, because the #16 plate, pandan cake, and Vietnamese coffee are all just as good as the banh mi.

Los Gatos’s dining scene is arguably the most diverse in the Bay Area, but it was Nếm Restaurant that got a new generation of diners hooked on authentic versions of traditional Vietnamese dishes. Open since 2023, Kali Noodles & Tea Bar in San Jose has become a local favorite thanks to its comforting Hu Tieu. To make each steaming bowl, they use fresh ingredients and a carefully balanced broth that’s been perfected over time. While most people come here to try these flavorful noodle soups, Kali Noodles & Tea Bar also makes a bunch of other options like Pho Ga with chicken-based broth, various noodle choices including original rice and thin egg wheat, and refreshing Thai teas with boba.
If you want to enjoy a cozy meal, visit during off-peak hours for one of their twelve welcoming tables.
Phở Nam
$ | (408) 737-1086 | WEBSITE
Phở Nam has been a neighborhood staple in Los Gatos since it opened in the Civic Square Shopping Mall. And all these years later, the menu still revolves around classic Vietnamese comfort food served hot and fresh, with tender meat and flavorful noodles in that tasty broth. Whether you order the simple number 6 with hoisin sauce, sprouts, mint, and lime, or the #8 piled high with steak, flank, and tripe, you’ll leave as a much happier and fuller version of yourself.
Recently, Phở Nam has come under appreciation by regulars, who note that the pricing is reasonable for the generous portions—a small size leaves you feeling full, while a large is only a dollar more. The restaurant is currently in the process of maintaining its no-frills, classic Viet diner vibe, with speedy, friendly service and food that often arrives in under 10 minutes. They have a cash-only policy to keep things simple, so it’s advisable to bring bills as cards are not always accepted.

Inside Los Gatos, a vibrant Silicon Valley town known for its charming downtown and food scene, sits Com Tam Thanh–a family-run Vietnamese spot that serves super authentic dishes that’ll have you questioning all the other Vietnamese food you’ve ever eaten. Think Banh Mi, Bun Bo Hue, and Com Tam suon bi cha.
That said, don’t you dare leave without getting an order of the Banh Cuon Dac Biet–each delicate rice crepe comes filled with seasoned ground pork and wood ear mushrooms before getting topped with crispy shallots, fresh herbs, and sweet fish sauce. Enjoy it all in the restaurant’s spacious dining room flooded with natural light.
Phở Tô Thị #1
$ | (408) 365-2042 | WEBSITE
There are plenty of strip malls in Los Gatos where you can grab a decent bowl of pho, but few feel as welcoming as Phở Tô Thị #1. The setup at this family-owned Vietnamese spot involves a newly remodeled dining room divided into areas for simmering beef broth, assembling rice plates, and rolling fresh egg rolls. Just stepping inside can be a comforting experience, but actually eating the food here is even more satisfying.
Phở Tô Thị #1 makes some of the best chicken noodle soup we’ve ever had—it’s got a perfect balance of savory depth from the slow-cooked broth and freshness from the herbs. Aside from the soup, the spring rolls with peanut sauce are our other favorite option here. They’re incredibly fresh, nicely crispy, and taste like they’ve just been dipped in a vat of pure peanut goodness.
Phở Nhy
$ | (408) 923-6891 | WEBSITE
Run by a dedicated family, Phở Nhy’s traditional Vietnamese menu has turned this small McKee Road spot into a true Los Gatos dining gem. There’s tender beef stew with crusty French bread, mix pork porridge on weekends, and classic beef and chicken pho on weekdays, but the dish you must order is the signature beef stew with flat rice noodles. This comforting bowl comes with rich broth, tender meat, and fresh flat noodles that soak up all the flavor.
It’s savory, perfectly balanced without overpowering MSG, and a dish we would happily eat for lunch, dinner, or any craving. The Pho Tai Duio Bo is another standout, while the Hainan chicken was a bit lean but still satisfying. The indoor-only dining space feels cozy and welcoming, with friendly service that makes you feel like family. At around $12-15 per bowl, it’s an affordable taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine that has earned its place as a hidden gem in the area.

It’s got a huge portion full of top-notch ingredients–think grilled prawn and pork served alongside shredded pear, mango, and cucumber–available as a refreshing, flavorful favorite among customers.
